I'm on episode 7 of Serial Experiments Lain
What the fuuccck!?
WHAT THE FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!? Seriously though; this is a great anime. I keep thinking I have an idea of what all is going on, but then I'll think back to some detail in an earlier episode and it doesn't really explain everything as elegantly as I'd like. It doesn't help that it starts getting really hard to tell what is real around episode 3. Kind of getting the feel that Lain is computer Jesus though. Anyway, I'm really enjoying it. I'm sure everyone else here has seen it a million times, but if anyone hasn't, I'd highly recommend it.

It's probably lost forever.
That show was pretty good. Loved the OP. Seriously one of my favorites.
Liked the ending too. In fact, I'm pretty sure that somewhere in the vast collection of anime discs that I have is the entire series. Don't remember where I put it though.

and then have tea with him
I am very happy to read others liking this show / watching it and sticking with it. It's a good ride and, if it wanders into the deep end for you, at least it's enjoyable. You should all watch it, and make God proud.
The opening is indeed one of the best.

I don't speak psychology.
Serial Experiments Lain is one of those shows that I like, but can't really recommend to people in good conscience. It starts of slowly paced and is a visual mindfuck laden with what may or may not be real psychology. I loved it, but it's not for everyone, and the slow beginning can put a lot of people off.

I liked what I saw of it, but I ended up not able to continue with it due to my sleep schedule (seriously, they showed it at like 4AM and it just about killed me). I only ever caught a few episodes on TV and the first bit on DVD at a con.
That said, I DID see enough to affirm a friend's observation. Lain's world is fucking tiny. Like, there are only ever a few places, but you see them at so many different angles, you don't realize it at first.
