Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: Lagann Chapter
The second movie is better than the first movie easily. Part of this is because there is substantially less recycled stuff. Part of it is because it takes the over-the-top awesome moments from the second half of the show and makes them even more awesome. Things I noticed...
-Nipples -Voice acting isn't as good. This is especially noticeable for Kittan who sounds less scary manly. -Appearance of the Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann isn't as impressive Other than that it was more than worth watching, even in spite of the recycled parts and the less impressive voice acting.

My thoughts:
The Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann itself was easily one of my favorite designs from the series, but the simplicity of the Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann blew me away. Dai-Gurren didn't all go out like little bitches this time! My XXX is the Best in the Universe is freaking amazing. The lyrics aren't even so bad they're good anymore, they're simply badass. First half wasn't that great. There was quite a lot of the fight with Lordgenome that was missing. They more than made up for it with the second half though, holy crap. Every added scene was amazing, even with just the little things. Leeron holding the bouquet after Kyal and Dayakka's wedding was hilarious. I know I already said it, but holy crap Super TTGL. "Let's do it! COMBINE!" I spiralgasmed a little. Simon is a Green Lantern now? I actually liked the whole spiral thing, especially in the final fight. On that subject, the final fight was amazing. The HSQ was through the goddamn roof. All in all, I totally loved it. There were flaws, naturally, but my jaw is still pretty much on the flaw and I watched it hours ago. It's worth a watch, as long as you've seen the series first. |

I wanna watch this movie, but I wonder if it will continue to desecrate the original material like the first movie did.

Seriously, STTGL almost made me cry.
Anything that isn't newly animated does, but everything that is newly animated is so very much worth it that it will bring tears to your eyes.

I'm only about halfway through the series, I'll probably check this out at some point though. I get the feeling that the good guys win in this one, like hard.
I need to figure out a way to work in "Who the fuck do you think I am?" with my everyday speech. |

I didn't think it was possible to top the series final battle.
I WAS WRONG! I just keep watching it at higher and higher volumes. AND IT'S STILL NOT LOUD ENOUGH TO MATCH THE AWESOME!

If you decide not to watch this movie, I will hunt you down, find you when you're asleep, and hold your eyelids open while you watch it.
And then you'll thank me.

So, like, YES. I want to see this soooooooooooooo bad. Has it been subbed yet?
I mean, I can pretty much piece everything together from watching TTGL a dozen times, assuming no major dialogue/plot changes, but it'd be nice if there were subs available now >.> EDIT: Subbed and hopefully going to be watched soon! Lousy comp and not being able to get internet in my dorm room. I'm sitting in the lobby using the wireless there T.T Last edited by Julford Hajime; 02-02-2010 at 11:42 PM. |
