Cop Out or "Booger Lips Made Me Rich"
So I went to see this movie with... let us say median height hopes? Bruce Willis is a pretty cool guy (remember when Die Hard threw that guy out a window? INORITE?!) and Kevin Smith has had some occassional moments of brilliance in his career, so I figured what the hell.
What I wanted to be a movie centered on rapid fire pithy dialogue boxed in with a few over the top homage action sequences turned out to be an unintentional parody of an all ready self-parodying genre. And what the fuck Tracy Morgan? He wasn't funny, he didn't do anything except act like a jackass and get all stupid for no apparent reason. He spent half the movie whining like a little kid and I SHIT YOU NOT drooling like an infant for comedic effect. Everyone that wasn't Bruce Willis was pretty much a racist charicature and the few genuinely funny moments in the movie were overshadowed by the tremendous amount of suck emanating from the "funny guy" in the movie. This might as well have been directed by Carlos Mencia. (Although, it did have Jason Lee who is pretty much concentrated awesome, and that annoying fuck from American Pie got killed so... ok it wasn't a complete waste.) I need to go watch the Beverly Hills Cop trilogy to get this pile out of my head. Last edited by Funka Genocide; 03-02-2010 at 09:06 PM. |

I actually enjoyed this film immensely but maybe its cause I was with a bunch of friends. But you're right about one thing, Tracy Morgan is just a horrible actor.

I hate Tracy Morgan so much I think he's the way he is because my hate gave him an aneurysm.

I stood up and bolted out of the theatre as soon as the ending credits started rolling. Thanks for ruining the best part of the movie for me!

Some of you actually thought this looked good? Between Tracy Morgan and Bruce Willis' pairing taking the diametric buddy cop team to the absolute extremes, Tracy Morgan's "acting" in the commercial, and the mere fact that they went with the pun "Cop Out" as the title, I'd say it was rather obvious there was nothing saving this movie from being a horrible experience.
For one thing, if your buddy cop movie is going to be a full-on comedy instead of one of those action-comedy mash-ups, then Bruce Willis was a bad choice right off the bat. If it was an action-comedy mash-up, I can only assume that Tracy Morgan's absolute off-the-wallness took away any sense of realism and juxtaposed harshly with any action scenes. Basically, the movie was badly planned and probably cast, to boot.

You act as if there is any good casting for Tracy Morgan.

I want to believe that Bruce Willis can do comedy, I just don't think Tracy Morgan can do comedy.
Apart from casting a terrible actor for co-lead, it's just a piece of shit movie and I have no fucking clue how a script that's 80% shit that's made from the shit that someone ate and then shit out and then ate again got either Bruce Willis or Kevin Smith onboard. This might just be the straw that breaks the back of whatever circus animal applies for me and Kevin Smith. Maybe he's just a man outside his era who can never go back home. (but I mainly blame whatever brain dead fucktard writers they had working on this steaming mass of peanut riddled human excrement and Tracy Morgan.) |
