Pokémon Umbral Discussion 5: Gardevoirs Gone Wild!
You guys sure like to talk about one-upping each other. Maybe the third mission really should be an arena competition? And since I forgot to produce a Gardevoir picture last thread: Gardevoir: replacing real women in your perverted desires since Ruby and Sapphire. Now I'll get to work in the RP. |

I'll let you guys discover how best to defeat those two new dual types. Just think about the individual types of each and how they effect each other when combined. I'm almost certain that this is the first time for a Ghost/Steel and Fire/Bug dual type.
Trainers and Snaggers can select to have these Pokémon in their parties between missions after completion of this mission. You won't be restricted in selecting those moves the Pokémon bring into this fight. There's no concrete list of the moves they know, so if you decide you want to use those, run some ideas by me and I'm sure it'll be easy for you. As for me, I gots chores...and then duty tomorrow. The Navy would suck so much if they weren't paying so damn well. Last edited by Astral Harmony; 03-15-2010 at 03:25 AM. |

Ornamor will be fun. Hell of a lot of weaknesses and resistances. Still, weak to fire or ground. I'd suggest another focused earthquake from tyranitar.
As for fire/bug... Less resistances than ornarmor, and rock attacks do quadruple damage. I'm sure Renny can think of something. Also, do we have new scouters yet? Because I thought that Ruin radiation made the old ones inoperable? But we're still getting info. And, I just realized, communicating using them. I'm confused. |

You're kidding me. I bitchslapped Toxicroak damn near to death and only Gengar runs away? I mean, I get that the fucker is quite literally spineless, but I was hoping to drive off two or three of them.
Anyway, here's some info on Ruin-types: Ruin pokemon strengths, weaknesses and known moves Strengths: Quad damage dealt to Fighting types. Double damage dealt to Grass, Ground, Rock and Ice types. Half damage received from Fire, Ice and Rock types. No damage received from Fighting and Ground types. Weaknesses: Half damage dealt to Fire, Water, Electric and Poison types. Quad damage received from Dragon types. Double damage received from Psychic, Ghost, Dark and Steel types. Narcham Spiral Dive - Ruin type, physical attribute. 110 power, 80 accuracy. Ignores defense. Can make target flinch. An attack using the mandibles where the Narcham rebounds off of a surface and hits the target like a big, spinning bullet of slicing blades. Star Ray - Ruin type, special attribute. 90 power, never misses. Can confuse target. Five beams are emitting by the sensory sphere cluster and converge on the target. Bloody Flurry - Ruin type, physical attribute. 25 power, 100 accuracy. High critical hit ratio. Slashes and gashes the target with three to six claw strikes from its foot claws. Terror Weapon - Ruin type, no attribute. Lowers all statistics by one. Ability: Sniper Pulverot Body Wrecker - Ruin type, physical attribute. 120 power, 80 accuracy. Lowers attack and defense two levels. Can also cause paralysis. A brutal strike with both arms. Mind Eraser - Ruin type, special attribute. 120 power, 80 accuracy. Lowers special attack and special defense by two levels. Can also cause confusion. A power spherical bullet fired from the sensory sphere. Soul Crusher - Ruin type, physical attribute. 40 accuracy. One-hit KO. A devastating strike that obliterates the target. Sweeping Ray - Ruin type, special attribute. 90 power, 70 accuracy. Strikes all enemy targets. A long, thin beam that slices into the ground, causing a line explosion a few dramatic seconds later. Ability: Battle Armor Omnisroth Knuckle Sweep - Ruin type, physical damage. 160 power, 60 accuracy. Single target. A powerful backhand swipe with a massive claw. The ultimate bitchslap. Beam Ball Cluster - Ruin type, special damage. 110 power, 50 accuracy. Four random targets. A fire-and-forget grouping of glowing energy spheres that arc up and smash down on the enemy. Gargantuan Leap - Ruin type, physical damage. 140 power, never misses. All targets. This Pokémon somehow manages to get airborne and then crashes down with all the grace and power of a giant Pokémon. Given the current tight conditions, Gargantuan Leap cannot be performed by this Omnisroth. Laser Show - Ruin type, special damage. 120 power, never misses. All targets. Syncstrike capable. Omnisroth gets the party started by blasting the area with big ass laser beams from its eyes. This is usually joined by Pulverot's Sweeping Ray and Narcham's Spiral Dive. Ability: Filter Gendom Piercing Ray - Ruin type, special damage. 50 power, never misses. Single target. The only means by which a Gendom can defend itself without generating Narchams. Power Boost - All allied targets. Slightly increases physical attack of allied units. Force Boost - All allied targets. Slightly increases special attack of allied units. Strike Boost - All allied targets. Slightly increases critical hit chance of allied units. Ability: Narcham Generator - deploys one Narcham Pokémon per round.

I could post right now, but it would just be 'Charlotte is waiting, Spitz is digging.' So feel free to skip me this post around.
And I am totally going to save Hammond for a PvP battle. It would give a serious wtf/oh crap moment to whoever was against Charlotte. |

Of course, it's entirely possible we'll get more upgrades and/or a 6th pokemon. (In which case, it might be an idea to just PM it along with moveset to AB so it'll be a wild card of sort during the PvP match.)
EDIT: Of course, we gotta think of some way that Impact and Matthias as well as the NPC charactes can be in the tourney or else the chapter without being left out. >_> Which I hope isn't forming a betting pool and then trying to sabotage a team, or being announcers with an obvious bias against a trainer with scathing comments and all that. Not trying to be that guy that gets off the hook on a technicality or anything, but Tyranitar gets downed by a move that deals half damage after I use a Full Restore on it?
Also, about made-up pokemon. Do we only get to include in our teams the ones you introduce, or can we make up our own?

Yeah, it does look really weird that that happened.
It's one of the reasons why I take the little extra time to put little summary of the actions to be noted by AB because he has to take everyone's posts in account all at one time. Makes it easier not to miss any of the details like whether someone used a Full Restore. (Which was barely half a line in your post). So yeah, easy to miss details. EDIT: I have been getting the slight feeling lately that Togekiss is being mistaken for being easy to knock out just because it looks fluffy. It's defence and special defence and HP are significantly higher than average for many evolved pokemons and even some legendaries that don't focus on defence. Of course, its physical attack stat is crap to make up for it, but Togekiss don't use those attacks anyhow. For comparision, Spitz (a Manetric) is holding on barely after taking a STAB Bug Buzz and STAB Hydro Pump when they only get 70/60/60 for HP/Defence/Special Defence respectively. Togekiss gets knocked out from two Mononokes attacks (which is hard to explain since their attacks don't have a specific power levels like most pokemon.) when his stats are 85/95/115 for HP/Defence/Special Defence. So unless Mononokes attacks are like 200ish power or something, Togekiss seems to be treated like a glass cannon, which it is really the opposite. (All of Renny's pokemons have strong defence and special defence stats. You can say that Renny is the defence trainer compared to the other trainers that might focus on offence.) I know it isn't REALLY a big deal, but it's a bit of pride to me especially since Togekiss is my leader pokemon, and while it isn't exactly the powerhouse that Tyrannitar is, it's still supposed to be quite sturdy. *Thinking of grabbing all the trainer's pokemon and putting up the Bulbapedia stats to see how they can be compared... after breakfast.* ^^ Should be a neat conversation starter. Mind you, I'm not trying to get a strict adherence to the stats. Quite a few of Charlotte's pokemons are slightly low power in terms of total stats, so I can imagine letting the stats be pumped up in her favor to level the playing field and all, but a bit of proportions would be nice, since none of her dog pokemons were given stats that could make it a viable tank. (And given Charlotte's personality, she's more of a fighter anyhow) BTW, should/can we opt to get stats that are skewed in one favor or another in a manner similar to nature? 10% bonus to one stat with a 10% penalty to another stat. (I rather not have to force-roleplay my pokemons to their appropriate nature though) Last edited by Menarker; 03-21-2010 at 12:24 PM. |
