Books Atomik Age

Brian,

I've generally accepted the fact that this book may never be completed in my life time. And I'm okay with that; though it's taken several years to make peace with never getting to read the sequel to my favorite book, Nuklear Age.

Since Atomik Age will likely never be released in its entirety, would you ever consider making available, in some form, what's been completed to date...? Hey, I'd even pay for it, I don't care --- I just need closure with this book, as it's something I've been eagerly anticipating since the moment I completed the first book.

As a writer myself, I empathize with the idea of not wanting to make public an unfinished, unedited project. But if there's any chance of making any portion, regardless of it's present condition, of this book available, I would love it if you would let me know.

Further, I know it may be an uncomfortable request, and I understand if it's not something you're interested in doing at this point. But if there is ever a time when you've once-and-for-all decided that Atomik Age is officially dead, it would be really cool if you would release something from the unfinished work. Maybe just the open paragraph...? Heh. Anything would be awesome, really.

Much appreciated!

Honestly? I don't even know if I have anything left of my various efforts to finish Atomik Age. Oddly, there's a 95% change that I still have its epilogue. Might make for something worth releasing for those folks who really want to know how it all ended.

Hey man, thanks for your quick reply.

Yeah, basically anything you're comfortable releasing would be seriously fantastic, and I'd love to read it.
Basically, the main reason I inquired about Atomik Age at all (as my intentions weren't to bug you about a project you haven't touched in years, heh), was due to thinking I'd recalled having read something you posted a long, long time ago in the forums --- saying something along the lines that Atomik Age was coming along a lot quicker than Nuklear Age had previously, which lead me to believe that you at least got a decent chuck completed. But I misread/misunderstand things on a daily basis, so I might be mistaken in this case as well.

Either way, I'd be stoked to read whatever you've finished, no matter the amount.

Keep me posted, if you're able to.

Thanks again,
Sean Dwyer

As much as I would love to see Atomik Age, I wonder if it needs to be completed as a novel. The end of the book left so many possible directions in which you could take the story, but since it was written as a comic book, why not just make it one? And not even it's own comic, but as back-stories to be included with Atomic Robo releases or something like that. Then it could eventually lead up to the epilogue if you find it.

It is mostly my perspective of the amount of work you already have on your plate, and how things tend to go when you have some projects that require a deadline and others (8-bit) which have a much more flexible release schedule. I don't think that if you continue Atomik Age as a novel it will ever be completed, but small stories here and there would be great to slowly expand upon the story until you feel you have the time to make it a bigger project, if you ever had the desire to do so.

Just my 3 cents.

The problem was with finding the right path to the end of the story.

So, it's the doing of this story -- in any media -- that's the hard part which has kept it from getting done. Not my schedule. Also, I stopped working on it like, I dunno, six years ago. It's just a project that didn't work out.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Atomik Age would be to the same level or emotional "feel" of Atomic Robo. From what I've heard of Atomik Age, the series seems a bit too "grim" and "gritty" for the Robo. I could be wrong, however.

I don't do grim or gritty, but it would've been a less "silly" story than Nuklear Age. In any case, I'm not sure what an Atomik Age comic would have to do with Atomic Robo as a comic other than starting with the same word, so whether or not they have a similar feel is irrelevant.

That's actually pretty cool. I'd heard (from a friend who had a friend who'd read it, maybe) that it was, but that may have been how my friend interpreted what his friend said - or simply how I misunderstood my own friend. Third party sources: they're reliable!

So Nuklear Age, Atomik Age, and Atomic Robo all happen in the same, shared, persistant world? That's... pretty cool, actually. are in different worlds? That's totally how I first understood them to work!

Same word. Not world. :P

Also, I'm not gonna touch the first bit of your post with a 50 foot pole, because I think it's missing at least three verbs, four nouns, and a preposition or two.

Part the first: You did! You totally did! Granted, not with a 50-foot pole, but with a "quote" tag! Hah-HA! take THAT!
Part the second: imagery makes for the proper understanding of the words that may or may not have been spoken within the sentences that were allegedly written by the person that may be myself!

tl;dr: strike most everything in my previous post! ... actually, nevermind, I'll do it.
