Should I upgrade from hotmail to something else?
I've been using hotmail for years, but since 2010 dropped I've seen a slow but steady increase in spam, as well as sudden instance of no-service. I've never really looked into different email clients, so I'm not too sure where to start.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Gmail has a very good spam filter, lots of space, a clean UI, and sorts related emails into 'conversations'. I recommend it.

I quite truly do not use these accounts, so I don't care about them.
I think I have (had?) a hotmail account specifically for use on registration forms and things when a fake e-mail address wouldn't work and I knew spam would hit.
Oh man. I still have an IGN e-mail account for that, too. ... Ha ha ha ha oh Lord it has so much spam in it. Thankfully Google's tools are much better at filtering if spam mails ever start hitting your account.

Gmail is a very nice choice. If you use firefox, there are even a couple of very nice addons you con put on it that let you manage your Gmail account from a tab with just a click. It's really great.
The only reason i don't use if is because i've had the same e-mail for 6 years now, on mail.com . they are also pretty great, and let you pick what comes after your @ |

Personally, I use Yahoo mail. I was drawn by the probably-will-never-be-utilized-by-me unlimited storage, but it's still pretty good.
There are a couple times spam gets into the main inbox and vice-versa, but spam is shown as, well, spam. It's also adaptive to a point. If you delete too many emails too quickly from one address in the inbox, that address starts getting flagged as spam(This happens very rarely, though). It also has the "Hey, bozos, this is SPAM" button I'd assume is standard issue. Anyways, I like it, so it works. |

I use Yahoo and the only spam is that which I brought upon myself by signing up for newsletters. The only problem I have with it is actually the unlimited storage, because I tend to let it pile up and then it's a pain in the ass to delete it all for some billion pages and then have to delete it all from the trash bin.
