David Wong is a Sneaky S.O.B.
I'm sure that a lot of you have read John Dies at the End and I'm also sure that a lot of you know that there's supposed to be a movie adapted by Don Coscarelli. And that's about all the details that we've had over the past few months. Well guess what. David Wong and this Coscarelli guy are a couple of sneaky motherf***ers.
They've actually already started filming the movie. How did this manage to stay so low profile?! |

It's well worth a read. I'm not normally one to go out of my way for stuff in the horror genre, but JDatE is every bit as funny as it is scary. It's not the sort of startling faux horror so popular in movies but the sort of horror where you think you see something in the dark but there's nothing there when you look. Then some part of your brain says "yeah, there's nothing there now". My own experience reading the books consisted of me laughing my ass off for the few days it took me to read it, at which point I had to sleep with the lights on for two weeks (I was 20 at the time).
Most of the humor is very low brow, so if making dick jokes at the expense of the myriad horrors of the blackest abyss doesn't sound like your thing then you might should skip it. |
