Interest thread for a New Vegas LP
Always wanted to do an LP on here and I think Fallout: New Vegas would be perfectly appropriate for me. Just a few things I thought I'd discuss with people ahead of time.
Mostly, managing screen-shots etc. Do any of you veteran LP'ers use any particular program to take your screenshots, and do you use any particular online host to get them onto the forums? Second, my schedule can be kind of crazy, and a lot of the times in the past I've seen people abort an LP right after it starts because of their schedule. In the even that I start this LP and don't have the time to finish it, is there anyone who would like to continue it in my place? It should be a simple matter to e-mail you my save file and have you keep moving from there. EDIT: By crazy I mean inconsistant, not busy. Sometimes I have a weekend with nothing to do but sit on my ass and other weekends Im nonstop, constant busy with homework. So, anybody think this sounds interesting? |

Yeah, too soon. More people need to play/beat it so you aren't spoiling all kinds of stuff, and more patches need to come out.
I'm currently replaying through multiple hours of the game because I activated a glitch at the end of Veronica's quest that broke her, for instance. Edit: I'd also suggest doing something short that you know really well first, so you can get an idea of how much work it is to do one.

We've already had a Fallout 3 LP or two, haven't we? I might just wait a month or two and run with this one still.

Only one that never went anywhere.
Nope. This might be a good way for you to practice and pull in more interest for Vegas down the road, if that sounds appealing to you at all.
And while some people may question the lack of video in a modern LP, Fallout has so much downtime running around and stuff that screenshots wouldn't necessarilly be bad. Video for some of the events may be aces, though.

Krylo did a Fallout 3 LP but didn't complete it. I'd say the trophy for completing a game as expansive as Fallout 3 is still up for grabs.

I already mentioned it in my previous post.

e: @PipBoy: Your screenshots will be saved in the game's folder. They will be in .bmp format, so I recommend opening them and saving them in another format that can net you some compression without much or any noticeable image loss, such as .png or .jpg. As for hosting, you'll just have to try your luck with Photobucket/Imageshack or the like. Managing a good screenshot res:filesize ratio will help reduce bandwidth on your account.

I'm looking at my program files for Fallout 3 and I don't see anything that could possibly be a screenshot folder. Could you possibly list a full directory? I can't seem to find a screen-shot key listed in the games control options either. Krylo, you've done a Fallout 3 LP before. How did you do this?
OTHER QUESTIONS: I have the GOTY edition so all expansions will be available. Do you guys want me to use expansions for this LP? I also know that many of us have played Fallout 3 to the point that it bores us beyond belief. To keep things fresh, are there any stable story mods that any of you would like for me to use? Importing an alternate storyline could help to keep things feeling a bit fresher both for me and for the viewers. I'd prefer one that's been thoroughly tested though, as I hear such mods are often prone to glitches and errors (not that the original game itself isn't already). |
