Vinculumist Sign-up
At the tender age of 12 the man now known only as The Dark King did that which is forbidden. He summoned and bound the demon En and with his power began constructing a massive empire. Its been over 30 years since that day. The Dark Kingdom is now the largest nation on Earth with no signs of stopping. Village after village falls, crushed under his relentless war machine.
This has made him many enemies, this has made him your enemy Your reasons may differ on why you summoned your demon partner, but one thing you all share is your desire to defeat the Dark King. Be it revenge for what he has done to you, or perhaps even to replace him and rule yourself. DEMON SUMMONING Myth: You are all taught at a young age to never attempt to summon a demon. If you do it shall corrupt your mind and eventually betray you. Slaying you so it can be free and rampage across the lands. No good can come from it. Fact: While much of this is not true, their warning no good will come of it is a valid one. When bound the demons mind is remade to be subservient to you. Its personality remains, it can argue, object, and complain, but ultimately it will do as you command. Not through magical force, but the binding left an inherent loyalty in it. Upon summoning you also learned the conditions before being bound. Demon will serve you, and upon your death it shall be free to do what it wishes on Earth for a time equal to its service. Meaning even if not for the will breaking of the binding its in the demons best interest to keep you alive for as long as possible. This means no matter your reasons, you knew, and chose, to release a demon on Earth. For this reason even those that know the true conditions of binding refuse it, and view all those bound as enemies of humanity. Binding: it is a complex ritual and forbidden knowledge, making it all the more impressive The Dark King did it when he was only 12. there are variations but all require three symbolic sacrifices and that the binding itself will require a sacrifice of the vinculumist's flesh. Once summoned the demon offers the terms as a disembodied voice, if rejected it is simply banished back to its world. If accepted the sacrifice of flesh occurs. In reality it is simply a tattoo placed on the body and the demon materializes. The tattoo varies wildly, images, runic symbols, letters of unknown language, ect. The demon explains that the tattoo is its true name, and what holds it in this world. It cannot be scarred, altered, or removed. The demon is an imp, small and with slight demonic features. Humanoid ones, the most common, easily pass as children if covered well. Demonic Nature: Nothing about demons is comprehensible to humans. They cannot pronounce their true name or really describe their homeworld. Though may try to with allusions and metaphors. What they can describe is a kind hierarchy and common source of power which is related to concepts of destruction and suffering. This is how demons grow more powerful, by spreading these concepts. Method and who suffers does not matter. Killing a bandit is the same as a child to the demon. So is doing the killing yourself or manipulating another to do it. Oddly enough the best way to help your demon grow is to fight other demons. While it cant explain exactly why, killing a worthy demon alters their station in their power sources pecking order, letting them draw more energy. Which leads to something important to remember Humans are not the weakpoint: Some foolishly assume that in a fight with another Vinculumist to attack the human. While demon wishes the human to be kept alive, this is for long term reasons. Succeeding will not in any way diminish the demons power, it just means it no longer has a master, but even if just to grow stronger it probably has enough reason to keep fighting. CHARACTER SHEET Vinculumist Name: Age: Gender: Appearance: (include where tattoo is and what it looks like) Skills: You are just a normal human, keep this in mind Backstory: What lead you to strike a deal with a demon Personality: Demon Name: (the one you gave it) Gender: Appearance: Personality: Stats Speed: 5 Strength: 5 Endurance: 5 Powers: (for now this is to be left blank, but as the story goes on your demon will develop abilities) I will allow people to pair up, one being the demon the other the vinculumist, but be very careful if you do this. I dont want a player left out because their partner up and quit. There is more but I dont want to info-dump too much on you guys. This should be all the important stuff. But just in case its not clear, for the most part, there is nothing magical about this fantasy setting save the demons. Most vinculumists currently serve The Dark King, and since before his rise to power vinculumists were almost unheard of its even more rare to find an unbound demon. [edit]added stats, everyone starts demon with 5, 3 is considered good for a human and only very talented humans can reach 5. This is just to give a rough idea of how characters are balanced and where their focuses are as they develop, they are guidelines only.

Name: Kay Wilcox Age: 19 Gender: Female Appearance: Has dirty blonde hair and pale green eyes. She's thin to the point of appearing malnourished. She wears a filthy dark-green raincoat over a white belly shirt and muddied blue jeans with worn weather boots. She wears a black six-sided die connected by a black rope with tiny diamond studs on each face, the only item of any value on her person. She is often seen holding a lead pipe and smoking a cigarette. Kay's demon tattoo is located on her right thigh. In the center is a heart shape surrounded by rings of strange runic symbols and what appears to be barbed wire and serpents. Skills: Some minor combat experience using unorthodox weapons (she prefers lead pipes) with a smattering of parkour skills (able to use paths with some obstructions to escape bad situations) Backstory: Kay's life, as well as those of her family, were rough even before the Dark King besieged her town. But at least they had love. After the Dark King easily conquered her town, the Wilcox family descended into madness. Her parents constantly fought each other and they were always going hungry. Unable to tolerate that despondant lifestyle, she ran away from home with her younger brother Patrick in tow. But the outside world was just as merciless, if not more so. Her brother succumbed to illness in a few weeks, and Kay had to sell her own body just to eat or find a place with a roof to sleep. And that was only when she could find opportunities to survive that way. Most of the time, she was at the mercy of the elements and of a society that made no effort to protect the victims. Kay often stole to survive, and she even has a few murders of necessity below her belt. The terrible years she had spent has turned her into a man-hating fatalist who would could no longer tolerate the injustice visited upon the world by the Dark King. Knowing who she really needed to kill gave her something that she never believed in until just recently: hope. She would do anything to stop the madness, even making a deal with the devil himself. Personality: Kay is impatient and illmannered, topped with a dash of homicidal. She's not afraid to get down and bloody when push comes to shove, but oftentimes combat seems to be her only answer to anything. It's hard to tell if this was brought about by her demon ally, or if it was the mean street life Kay lived as a wretched pauper that shattered her inhibitions. Demon Name: Izlude Gender: Female Appearance: Resembles a ten-year old girl with jet black hair and shimmering red eyes. She has a very petite body and wears a long-sleeved pink turtleneck with a small plaid skirt and brown boots. She has a barrette in her hair that looks like puckering lips. Her clothes are comparably cleaner compared to Kay's. Her voice is much prettier, her skin more clean, and her hair is shinier than her human companion. She has sharp fingernails, toenails and incisors and her ears are slightly long and pointed. Personality: Izlude is often quiet and subdued, often speaking only to Kay and only when necessary. This is mostly due to her not having met a person worth speaking to other than Kay. Still, when she speaks, her voice seems to turn heads, even though she rarely says anything profound. Name: Morris Day Age: 30 Gender: Male Appearance: Tall and lanky with platinum blond hair and sky blue eyes. He is often found in a long overcoat held tight with belts and buckles across his chest and one across his waist which holds a sabre when he is able to get away with that. Underneath the coat is a pure white long sleeved shirt and a pair of pants held by suspenders the whole outfit finished by a pair of round glasses, black dress boots, and often a wide brimmed plumed hat. His tattoo is on the middle of his back and is a closed fist. Skills: He is a relatively smooth talker and knows how to get out of trouble without violence, but failing that he is a partially experienced boxer and fencer and his size often helps him in this. Backstory: There were kingdoms before the dark kingdom and within them noblemen who had their own personal control in their own feifs. Little squabblers leading knights who watched serfs and so on down the hierarchy, no one important. This was Mr. Day's life before the war. A living made of ease, meeting and schmoozing other nobles, thinking of some new trade agreement or marriage he might find himself in to expand his family's power this generation. Idle thoughts from a man who's mind was often occupied with the larger picture and his part in it. When the Dark Kingdom began to grow his patron king was one of the first to resist it, they had no idea of what they were up against. The Dark King decided to make an example of their lands, crushing the nobility, the hierarchy, the order and every plan that Morris could have had for his future. And just to spite him he let him keep his life, forced him into the mass squabble of commoners he once ruled over. Outcast in all forms. He seethed on the inside at everything, his old king, the failure of his own knights, the failure of his house to break away when they had the chance. But most of all the Dark King himself, who broke his small monotonous hedonism and turned his world to shit. No one of this earth was willing to fight him though, his petty attempts at revolution ending in failure and often pushing him ever closer to the coffin that he was spared from. And he almost just ended it for the sake of quitting the cruel joke that his life had become, but could not. His hate was too strong to leave, and he would have his revolution. Even if he had to do it himself. So he found a friend not of this earth and opened a contract with someone he had read about in a few books. Personality: Charming, cool, but with a short temper. He still has faint traces of his old life in him which makes him tend to expect to get what he wants when he wants it. Though he has been tempered by life below to not expect it to come easily or cheap. He is also a bit of a bastard, entirely willing to use underhanded tricks to get ahead. He'd rather betray the world than let it betray him once again. Demon Name: Chernobog Gender: Male Appearance: Looks like a pale gaunt man clad in a tightly fitted black robe that seems to be made of a material that specifically clings to his bony structure. He wears a round bulbous hat and has empty jet black eyes. He has a large sharp toothed grin and sharp fingernails that extend off his long thin fingers. He seems to lack ears and his voice is smooth but menacing. Personality: Chernobog is mischievous and easily amused, often not caring of the consequences of his actions until after. And if he is thinking about them beforehand it can on occasion be worse as he enjoys being a part of a good story a bit more than he might enjoy safety. Stats Speed: 5 Strength: 5 Endurance: 5 Powers:

I put a demon tattoo description is in the Vinculumist character sheet.
Though I wonder if it's a little overdone. Does the tattoo change as the demon grows in power? |

Overcast you are approved, AB you are fine now
as for the tattoo, I didn't intend for tattoo to change since its the demons name, though I dont really mind it. Can justify it as their position in their world changing thus so does their title
