Clearing more active memory in Windows 7.
So I'm trying to run Minecraft on my laptop with Windows 7, and the framerate goes to shit whenever any area loading is done. I figure this is a memory issue slowing everything down as it takes a minute to just start a web browser right after it boots up.
I know that Windows likes to do a bunch of shit automatically but I really don't want to just start killing off processes in the task manager every time I want to play a game. So what's the best way to prevent non-essential programs from starting upon bootup? |

So, I've not used windows 7, but on XP you'd run msconfig from the start menu and set it that way.
After a few minutes, google yielded a tutorial that seems to cover everything you'd need for windows 7. |

There's a program called Soluto which notes every program that starts up at boot, and lets you do what you want with them. You can find it here.
