What was the most embarassing thing your parents said about anime?
Whenever our parents/guardians see us watching anime/reading manga, what did they say, or what do you think they will say?
Mine went like this... Dad: "Did you just call me a baka?" Me: Yeah...... Dad: "Is that a good thing?" Me: ....sure lol, the next day when he went to work he asked his Japanese co-workers what it meant.

What does Baka mean?
Anyway, they just scoff at my cartoons and make fun of it and raise their eyebrows at me. I tend to just watch it alone. Edit: And oh oh oh, have you ever played the game Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy?

I don't think there have been any. Both have asked me questions to learn more about it, and my mother has even begun to enjoy watching it herself ever since I showed her a series here and there when I was home.

Well, the most embarassing thing my father said was, "That looks like a kid's show" based off the cover to the Hand Maid May box. My mother has made too many embarassing comments which usually mean the same thing just said in different ways: she hates anime. [Edit]And Andy, that's another thing my mother did. With DragonBall Z and with Jin Ro(near the end, where the girl is reciting lines from "Little Red Riding Hood").[/Edit] Last edited by Otaku Son; 05-23-2004 at 07:17 PM. |

NOT on Probation!

Okay static, are you going to bring that game up in EVERY SINGLE THREAD that you go into? It is completely unrelated to the topic at hand, and is referred to as spam. If you want to talk about it, make a thread about it and don't pollute tons of other threads with it. [/pissed off rant]
[on topic] My most embarrassingmoment was probally when I was watching Inuyasha and my mom kept asking me all these stupid and really annoying questions. Then she began mocking it before going off to bed. Wanted to smack her.

Sorry, your right.
A bit over-zealous I guess.

I make fun of my friends who are over zelous anime people. I just start asking them if they have a bento box (it can't be pinku).

While I was watching Lupin 3
Stepdad: "Um....is that girl nude?" Me: "Uh....no, she just has a 'flesh' colored bikini" Stepdad: "But I coulda swore.....oh well, what is the name of that?" Me: "Nothing too big....just an old japanese Anime called Lupin" Stepdad: "Lupin? Is that about the Harry Potter teacher or about a werewolf?" Me: "Nevermind......" Another- Mom: "That guy has a ton of scars....Where did he get em?" Me: "His name is Vash the Stampede, and he is a criminal...that's why" Mom: "Ok, sounds like your father." Me: "But Vash hasn't killed people" Mom: "Well, but that was cuz your father was in the army.....at one time. Is this Vash in the Army?" Me: "Um....no.....this is on ANOTHER PLANET....there is no REAL army" Mom: "Whatever....You don't seem to have even answered my first question." Me: "Um, I did....it's cuz he is a criminal that he has scars....people chase him....duh." a classic- Sister: "That guy is hot...and why does he not have a shirt on?" Me: "Um...Tim(that is my brother) Turn off the DBZ, your sister is drooling over Goten again."
