Fraps issues
I can't record Castlvania Lord of Shadows Demo.
No idea why. Super weird thouhg, i can record anything else. I know FRAPS throws hissy fits when you try to record flash games sometimes, but i never had problems with any STEAM game... when i start record it records my desktop, but it does not record the gameplay on screen (the active screen i would say). Game is running on full screen. Then i go on the option, i try to record in windowed mode... and it records. The window of the game, and everything around it. My desktop included! I must be doing something wrong, cause other people were able to record this game... but i have no clue as to what that could be... Any ideas?! |

Some games have inherent hooking issues with other programs, and those that don't generally have a limit on how many "overlay" programs you can have at once (mumble, fraps, dxtory or the steam overaly). I can't record Warframe unless I disable DirectX 11, for example, and I can't run Smite with both the Mumble and Dxtory overlays on at the same time. The best thing to do if you can't find a solution is to go into windowed mode with the size just below your native resolution, and then crop away the desktop in the editing phase.

Ok, here is a solution i got. It might serve if any of you are looking for something similar...
i got MSI afterburn (which is free) and after learning how to configure it i managed to record things just fine. It's actually pretty good so far and i'm clocking 425mb for 2min of video on Castlevania Demo with no slowdown on play or video, full audio and screen quality. Need to see if it holds up over long record sessions, but so far... this is my number 2 application from now on. Oh, right... also here are my configs for video capture. RTV1 comprension 95% quality 1/2 frame 29 framerate and framerate limit |
