Does anyone play D&D anymore?
I lost my D&D friends a while ago. I still think about it from time to time, but I cannot find anyone else who plays. I cannot even find D&D source books at the bookstores. Wutupwitdat?

I think that the independent video game store in my town hosts some games between MtG tournaments, but hell if I can be arsed to show up with my work schedule.
I'm currently in several games and running one over at Giant in the Playground, since forum-based games are nice for not having to actually schedule. I also think that there's decent forum-based D&D communities around minmaxboards and brilliant gameologists, which makes sense since if you look at the homebrew circulation those are the other two sites that are even considered. No, dandwiki.com doesn't have a D&D community, and if it did everyone would point and laugh at how sad it was. |

I'm over at Paizo and Pathfinder more often, these days.

Also, a couple of us did this today and yesterday, which is pretty awesome, I must say. I've not heard much about the health of Dungeons & Dragons, and what little I have heard hasn't been all that great, though I periodically see things happening with it and/or have people vocally (usually angrily) defend it's health, so there's that as a decent possibility. I really want to have a local gaming group, but so far I've managed to: 1) talk to one guy about it a few times and give him one of my books (an old 3.5 Core Rule book) 2) run a game of Heroes Kids with some neighborhood kids once (we ate pizza later - it was pretty terrific, I must say) 3) talk to another guy who was really big into D&D in 1st edition (he didn't actually know anything about Advanced or 3rd or 4th), and almost convince him to game with us a few times, before he moved 4) ran into a random guy who gave me a business card that I promptly lost, much to my ever-lasting frustration 5) occasionally hang out at Barnes & Noble and pine over their books (including gaming books) there ... and that's about it.

Pyros rode in a car with someone who got a new old old alleged car, and drove all the way down to South Carolina to finally, have the grand finale of the "Shatter Star" campaign of Pathfinder.
Our group had been whittled down to two, a Cleric and a Witch(me), and the DM, and we hadn't played since last Christmas, and the cleric dude went to App State. So the Cleric and I finished the Campaign as gamebreaking genre-savvy mofo's, and we decide we missed playing so much, that we have do this kind of road trip again, especially when Cleric dude moves up to Boone, NC, because sometimes you wanna go where everybody only knows you by your character class's name. Also, disguising yourself as an Ancient Civilizations Cleopatra whenever you meet members or followers of that Ancient Civilization will never work, especially if your CHA is 10, and most Thassilonians remember Sorzcen doing two things that you aren't doing. Also, if the GM says a building made of centuries old wood isn't flammable, he's lying unless it's a We Be Goblins campaign, wherein that section was written for you and for you and you and you alone.

The rules should allow for anything to be set on fire if enough fire is applied to it.
Don't have Water Walk? Set the water on fire and use Fire Walk! |

I still play it with the same group I met 4 years ago, ( almost ) every sunday afternoon.
We mostly play DnD 4e, but we've played some Shadowrun too and I was going to try and run Exalted but it's kind of difficult to learn. I'm still running a campaign based on that one RPG I was doing a LP of once. |

You can't find very many source books in stores right now because WotC stopped printing the most recent edition two years ago in preparation for D&D Next (5th Edition). With two years of no new stock, stores have been pretty much picked clean on materials.
Right now I'm playing in a high level 3.5 game and running my local game store's D&D Encounters program with a 4th Ed table each week. This Encounters season looks to be very interesting. It's a cooperative dungeon that multiple parties tackle at the same time and sometimes interact with each other at certain points. Our store's groups look forward to yelling across the room at each-other's tables occasionally. |

Dark Dungeons told me it was wrong!
Yes, these people have made a full Dark Dungeons movie based on the infamous Chick tract. Look at it. LOOK AT IT "Are you ready to RPG?!" |

Come to the RP or playing games section, we are all about tabletop games there, as I understand it someone in the hellish mass may be planning a DnD or Pathfinder game.

What little I know about D&D comes from watching various Chris Perkins DM games on Youtube (namely Penny Arcade's Acquisitions Inc games and the Robot Chicken sessions). It looks like it would be a lot of fun with the right group of people and a good DM, but character creation seems pretty complicated.
