I'm cheating on my... computer game! (But can't.)

Okay, so I'm not sure whether this goes here or in Games, but it's a tech question, so... I'mma ask you guys here.

I mentioned this on another forum (hi, Terex!), but I wasn't able to get the Save Game Editor to work for Jade Empire - my four-year-old chose the appearance of my character, then wanted to make one for himself and, naturally, they're the same appearance. I wanted to alter mine, buuuuut... I can't.

In case that link doesn't work, I'll sum up about two pages of silliness.

- When I try to use the editor, it says "Could not find save file directory. Exiting."
- Someone links this super-awesome thing.
- Tac (that's me) is an imbecile.
- People are patient and teach him that ".reg" and "regedit" is a thing and how to do it.
- Tac is slightly less of an imbecile, but still incompetent.
- People are patient and walk him through baby steps that has him slapping his forehead with how obvious things they were talking about are.
- Tac follows the instructions, only to find that they were already in place as the other link (and his own checking) shows they should be to work right.
- When I try to use the editor, it says "Could not find save file directory. Exiting."

... sooooooooooooooooooooooooo help NPF-Kenobi, you're my only hope.

(For the record, I currently have the guy with mad dragon tatts, but I'm planning on switching to the guy that actually wears clothes and isn't a bruiser or monk.)

Probably the easiest thing to do here would be to send your save file to a friend or sponsor who can use the editor on their own game.
