I don't really understand either. It seems "good" these days is synonymous with "batshit loco", and the thought that this batshit loco is, in fact, the writings of a five-year old gives it some sort of novelty...? I guess?

Axe Cop is an example of absurd humor done very right. Most people's 'attempts' at the absurd usually end up being HURP DURP MONKEY CHEESE! and nothing else. Random for the sake of being random. You usually need some serious writing and humor chops to pull off absurd well. Or, apparently, the mind of a child, which can make this kind of thing make sense. Axe Cop has this internal cohesion, an internal logic and story threads that tie it together into a fantastic whole. There's also something about seeing this filtered through the unjaded and infinitely imaginative mind of a five year old that purifies this into distilled reading delight. It also certainly helps that the artist is experienced in this kind of storytelling and is very good at rendering his little brother's story, as well.

Really, this is a lot like Dr. McNinja, only more condensed and thrown more to an extreme in storytelling.
