Neat, CJ. I've done a little modelling as a hobby for a game. It'll eat your soul.

Mostly the texture mapping, for me. Oh, and trying to stay within limits for polygons and such.

What are you using, CJ? Blender is a big one on the market, but it broke my brain something awful, probably in part due to the fact it requires a 3-button mouse and I didn't know that or have one, but also because of all the keyboard shortcuts. >.<;

On the other hand, I found a nice little program called Anim8or which was a lot friendlier and was able to come to the conclusion that I just plain suck at 3D modeling due to a lack of ability to work without a solid scale like I have doing pixel art. Also, Anim8tor doesn't play well with other modeling programs.

Fake Edit: Or I could have looked at your screenie and saw you were using Maya, the OTHER big one on the market, which I was too cheap to pay for.

If you get the time, try Blender if you can. It's got some really nice features like its own game engine and built-in soft body physics. Also, it's free.

Yeah, Blender is pretty insane, but I found it usable with enough guides.

Anyone here use gmax? A game I modeled for forced me to use that and I hate it. Feels clunky.

Insane, but look at the stuff it can DO!

I'm looking at their updated features again and it looks like they've improved the soft-body solver, too. It can do cloth now, or at least get really close.

Oh yeah, it can have nice results. Thanks for those videos. I've seen Big Buck Bunny (which, for those who don't know, was made entirely with open-source software) before but not the other one.

Nice results, my foot. My mom mistook them for Pixar shorts. XD

I thought of this post today when I was trying to model my character's face. I was like "GODDAMN IT WHY DOESN'T ANY OF THIS MAKE SENSE."

Anyway, DRAWING! This is the happiest I've been with a lineart in awhile. :3

CJ: Line art looks great.

A second Valentine's Day pic that I finished just a day too late.

Had mixed feeling about fully posting it here.

EDIT: Meh, why not. I see no harm from fully posting it.

EDIT: I really love how I just now realized that I forgot to put shadows on the bed. -_-;

Oh well the damage is done.

CJ, that there is some excellent lineart. I am indeed impressed, and perhaps slightly envious. :p Two thumbs up! Also, your dude just chilling above the street, the colour is amazing. I especially like the hair, it's hairtastic.

Kyanbu, that pose is quite good. I have to admit the bird face was really jarring (because you know, human body and then OHMYGODBEAK). But it's good, you're steadily improving and that's a good thing.

Masaki, I really like your line work and the overall composition of the picture, it flows well. Might I suggest you watch your foreshortening on the tank back there, though? It just looks kinda squished, is all. Awesome!

Doc, as always your sketches bring me joy. The one in the bottom right corner I like the most, I think. Hell, that guy is just great.

It's time for another picture!

From the campaign, this is our resident halfling warlock, Sain. He's only about 2'10" (if I remember correctly), and he packs one hell of a punch. More than once he's finished off whatever big baddie we were fighting with his magic, and it's always been wonderful. He's always danced with death and come out alright until last session, when he finally kicked the bucket. He's back though, but no longer is he the little man we've all come to know and love.
