Paint shop pro, actually. It's the best program for sprite manipulation and MS paint's interface sucks dongs.

EDIT: What the fuck? Just battled three consecutive trainers, Simon, Paula, and Randall. Silver came out in the states in October 2000, and American Idol debuted June 2002. I just wanted to point the weirdness of that out now, because I can't really do it in character.
