For a children's cartoon, as you noted, I actually think it's been doing far better than most.

Well, my real point is that, as much as mainstream culture underestimates children, appreciating and reading subtle characterization is actually one of the things that a bit more sociocultural experience and Friendship is Magic has probably struck a better balance than, say, I would.

It's just one of those things where now my hopes are all up and it's harder to keep perspective.

I can forgive her for going a bit nuts in Sonic Rainboom. Again, those were dangerously fabulous wings.

I actually think it's a very interesting thing: she only got those wings for the sole purpose of getting to Cloudsdale to help Rainbow Dash. Interesting that the character who most understood Rainbow's predicament and most wanted to help her (see: recognizing stage fright, suggesting the spell, being the test subject) ended up forgetting her initial reason for becoming so fabulous in the first place.

One thing I really like about Rarity is that she has amazingly good qualities (everything she did in Suited For Success), and when she screws up or lets her ego get the best of her, she realizes this much faster than a character in another show might. Well, not so much in Look Before You Sleep, but in Green Isn't Your Color, she realized that she was being unreasonably jealous and felt ashamed for being so shallow, even as it was happening. In a lesser show, a similar character probably wouldn't have been that self-conscious until the end of the episode. Rarity may be shallow sometimes, but she is actually a very kind and mature character.

That's one of the things that make Rarity one of my favorites. She's just a really good person, all things considered. And she's skilled enough at what she does to justify a certain level of preening.

I considered doing a pony avatar but then realized that, while ponies are amazing, their word is being effectively spread by all you bronies already. Ghost Trick, on the other hand, is in need of someone to support it and remind everyone that it's also fucking awesome.

Um... Thadius... I don't mean to be a bother... but do you think you could maybe, um, post in a color that's not quite so, uh, hard to read?

PCD, I am quite aware of the awesomeness of Ghost Trick. I merely want people to have pony avatars so I can monitor and help spread the cause of Pony to all.
