Like really I guess the underlying issue here is that I haven't seen a single thing wrong with any of my posts, aside from being really enthusiastic about a show I like? And I mean, if me trying to be humorous and galvanize some laughs by integrating a Pinkie Pie song into Metal Gear Solid's script upsets you in some way, shape, or form, you can either skip it or ask me to turn it down a few notches without insinuating I have mental health problems?

And what exactly did you expect from a thread about MLP: FIM fanboyism anyway? If I can't be a bit over-enthusiastic about ponies here, where would it be appropriate?

How the hell am I supposed to know to what extent a comment is "tongue in cheek" here, anyway? When Robin accused me of "needing to seek help" I initially interpreted it as a joke and responded accordingly; but then everyone else made the same exact comment and it became less funny and felt more like piling on.

Besides which, as I said before, you're acting like I'm insanely enthusiastic about ponies and that simply isn't the case, at least not to the extent you're insinuating. Are you going to bash every serious FIM cosplayer, fanartist or fanfiction author out there on even harsher terms? Or is this just a level of vitriol you save exclusively for me?

I think what needs to happen is there needs to be an episode where, say, Rainbow Dash makes fun of Rarity for being all girly-girly and getting manicures and not pumping iron, and near the end Rarity stops just letting it go and's all like, "Well, Rainbow Dash, I guess you just can't be friends with someone so girly-girly; is that it?" and then Rainbow Dash is all like, "What? No, dude, I make fun of you because you're my friend. If it really bothers you so much, I guess I can stop." Then they pony hug and learn a valuable lesson about friendship.

And then Snake ignores said lesson because it was a Rarity episode and I'm so sorry I didn't intend to end this post like that it was just too perfect.

See this is what I'm talking about.

I mean, first of all, 'serious' and 'cosplayer' should never be in the same sentence together. Ever. Not for My Little Pony, not for Homestuck, not for Cowboy Bebop, or any other thing someone might cosplay for. Same goes for fan art and fan fiction. They are inherently non-serious subjects, because they are done by fans of a thing as an attempt to have fun with other fans of a thing.

I say this as a person who has gone to anime conventions in full costume, who dated for years a girl who drew fanart (sometimes quite 'seriously'), and was heavy into fandom for various things (the weirdest of which being ball-jointed dolls). Never would I use the word 'serious' to describe, and neither would she--because it wasn't serious. It was a hobby, a thing of fun. No more 'serious' than beating the newest Final Fantasy game.

BUT I'm going to assume by 'serious' you simply meant 'high-quality', and that I don't have to go into a big thing about how taking fandoms 'seriously' is unhealthy to both groups and individuals, and instead will focus on this:

This right here is the problem. That wasn't intended as a bash. It was intended as an educational post so that you can maybe understand why people are ribbing you.

There is, literally, nothing wrong with you posting that song thing. I didn't get most of the jokes being a member of exactly 1 of those fandoms (P.S. Kanaya/Vriska4lyfe), but at the same time I wouldn't, say, post a tri-universe cross over in which my three favorite characters do a song and dance and not expect to get some gentle ribbing for it.

It's just that people are going to make fun of you when you step out of their comfort zone. ESPECIALLY your friends. Because that's what friends do.
