That's the opposite of true.

In other words, from Snake's perspective, and my own as well before this point, it seemed Bob had heard about the article you linked and either thought or heard that it was "making us look autistic." While Snake was incorrect in where to direct his anger, it was based on the information he had at the moment which did not appear to be lacking any key points. Snake lashed out for the right reasons, but based on further information it seems it was the wrong person he lashed out against.
And then he said:

At least that's my take on it. What this doesn't change is the fact that Snake has a tendency to shoot first and ask questions later. He's very reactionary and it's a thing he needs to work on. I mean I could diagnose all sorts of shit that I learned about in my Dynamics of Human Development class (I mean hell, I diagnosed myself with several different dispositions and disorders until I realized that was why I went to doctors when I was a kid) but really that would just be making excuses.

Snake has a habit that he needs to work on. That's really all I'm getting at here.

I apologize for being offended at something you'd prefer me not to find offensive Fenris and I'm sure if I knew the full context I probably wouldn't have been offended, but I don't feel the slightest bit bad about being offended based on what I did read in what was posted here.
Also this is kind of what I meant earlier way back when I defended NonCon over the 'past issues' thing, like how every time I'm offended now it's automatically because I'm playing the role of the victim just because that's my "reputation."
"I'm high-functioning Asperger's and was diagnosed as Aspie until I was about 14, at which point I was re-categorized as generic "ASD" something because I was no longer Asperger's but not quite normal either, in some endless void between the possibilities.

And I hated myself for some time due to this association."

That completely, 100% comes across as taking it personally.

Okay but seriously, do we really need bad feelings in the goddamn pony thread?

This is pretty much exactly what pisses me off so much, because it contextually seems to suggest that any time I express I'm offended by anything the automatic assumption is because I'm playing the victim and because that is happening, I am automatically "wrong" and the person I am arguing against is automatically "right."

Like let me just be clear on this much, nothing I wrote was intended to make Rob feel like a terrible person. He's the only NPFer I've met here in person, I really enjoyed meeting him, and I think he's just about the nicest guy I've ever met. Subsequently I know he, at the very least, wasn't deliberately trying to say that "Rob hates autistic people." That isn't him.

But the fact that I know Rob is incredible doesn't mean he can't fall into the trap of occasionally buying into society's stigmatization of autism and its marginalization of autistic people because they are "anti-social" and therefore "unlikable" and "weird" and associations with them should be "avoided" and to call someone "autistic" is an insult.

If it appears he falls into that, yes, I will call him out on it precisely because I respect him enough to want to believe that's not what he meant.

It's not when you're offended by anything, it's when you take what offends you as a personal attack, whether you mean to or not.

I am saying this to you as a moderator and as a friend. You really need to work on this. It's become a habit, and I would be doing myself and you a disservice if I were to sit by as you continued to react to things in this manner.

Here's the thing though: You're going into it looking for this thing as a flaw, it seems like, just the same as you perceive Snake looking for personal insult.

Like, "perceiving personal insult" is to Snake, as "perceiving Snake perceiving personal insult" is to you. You can cool off it as well, since you're trigger happy as well about calling out Snake as being personally insulted. Shooting first and asking questions later, as you put it.

On the off chance that someone is taking a trip down memory lane looking through those old threads, I wanted to devote my signature to say directly to you, I'm sorry.

Thank you for letting me be better, NPF.

It certainly doesn't feel like advice from a 'friend.'
(That and even presuming your arguments were correct, I'm not sure how actually attacking me ad hominem is supposed to solve the presumed "habit" of me taking interpreting things too often as ad hominem.)

For the most part, you could say that I like hang out at NPF precisely because it's cool to try to come here and escape from the issues and the criticisms and the daily deluge of problems found in the 'real world.'
So it's just somewhat aggravating from my perspective that everything comes back to the realm of my personal life -- attacks on it, defenses of it, etc. -- because I'd like to be less like "Snake," with a pre-established persona that everyone has opinions of, and more like "Fenris," a guy I honestly can't even criticize due to a complete lack of knowledge of his IRL persona.

...And I know I've basically put myself in a poor position where a lot of stuff about me is pretty well known, but it's weird how I can't seem to argue anything in any context without being told that it's just a byproduct of 'my issues' or 'who I am' or that it's 'Snake being Snake.' It'd be cool if I felt more accepted and less like, y'know, a goddamn nuisance you all barely tolerate. I've never made an uninvited comment about your personal life or attempted to defeat an argument of yours on an unrelated subject by referencing a 'personal issue,' and I don't see what's wrong with wanting to avoid that.

But we should probably take this to PM or something. Or not.

Anyway, PONIES: Here is an awesome song about Steven Magnet.

...You actually wrote that?
I'm not saying that out of anything but respect in a sense, because I actually read that a while back without even knowing it was apparently by you.

EDIT: My mistake, I got my "Open Letters to Bronies" confused.
