Man, as huge of an MLP: FiM fan as I am, I just cannot get into the fanfiction.

What's weird is it's not like an anti-fanfiction thing, heck I've proudly written fanfiction for other series. It's just...
...It doesn't feel like writers should ruin the childlike innocence of Friendship is Magic by writing Rainbow Dash into a mature lesbian or Pinkie Pie into a crazed serial killer or any random pairing into a relationship.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic represents an escape from many of the adult-oriented, corrupted, warped values that fanfiction often represents. I dunno. I don't mean to sound bitter or anything, and they can write whatever they want to. But...I just like the concept of MLP as something akin to the world of A Neverending Story. It's a haven for our inner children. To corrupt it with relationships and sex and violence and grimdark would be the greatest imaginable sin.

...it's why I can't get into all that disturbing fanart, too. (Well, I guess that's one of many reasons, at any rate.)

As someone who's on FA and DA a lot. Trust me when I say that's a strong enough reason on it's own not to get into that kind of fanart. Much less look in that direction.

For the sake of those who do not care for fanfiction, this has been put under swap, I guess.Equestria Daily's Fanfiction List has every fanfic submitted to it sorted out into helpful lists, in case you don't want to deal with grimdark or shipping, though I wouldn't rule out the latter entirely since gems like Misted Stage can end up under there.

So far the only fanfics I've really sat down and read are:
-Misted Stage - An Arabian Nights-esque story starring Braeburn of all characters, told entirely in first person.
-Junior Speedsters Forever! - A look back on Gilda's childhood and what made her the way she is in her debut appearance.
-Bright New Days - Apparently this is written as if it were an episode of Doctor Who? It's fairly short.
-Somewhere Only We Know - A story about Rainbow Dash dreaming about a life in our world. Maybe.
-Ponies Play D&D - Exactly what it says on the tin.
-Termina's Final Twilight - Twilight Sparkle gets lost in the Everfree Forest, only to find herself in the land of my favorite Zelda game ever. No, I did not write this. I really wanted to, though, but the author beat me to it.

None of them are grimdark and only Misted Stage involves shipping, but even if you're against that sort of thing I wouldn't rule it out entirely.

Also, something that amused me: At one point Termina's Final Twilight was listed under Grimdark. Really. Majora's Mask was certainly a strange and dark game, but it's hardly W40K, y'know?

And now, so my post has more content than me being a total fanboy over something other than official canon stuffs:

Friendship is Magic is heading to the UK on Boomerang starting July 4th.

About the Fanfiction things, I agree with Snake, but at the same time, if the fanfict in question can keep most of that child-like feeling from the show into the new story and that it's well written, I'll definately appreciate it as well. That Termina one Roland posted fits nicely into that category, and I can really appreciate it since Majora's Mask was one of my favorite Zelda games as a child.

That D&D crossover with the Adventurers becoming Ponies is pretty alright. I like Storm though too as it kept things a bit in check and the writer wrote it after that first bout of Tornadoes ripped up the south in April.

Shipping shouldn't be done with those show at all. Nor should Rule 34. >_<

But yeah, I keep my eyes out and I might get back to working on that idea of a My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic/Slayers crossover. You guys never did give feedback on that sample scene I typed up and posted in this thread.
