Do we even know that he isn't human. I mean we know there have been other humans with shinigami powers. (Apparently enough they made a badge for them.) Its entirely possible that Isshin is essentially like Ichigo (who we know wasn't one of a kind in being human with shinigami powers) which would quite easily explain how Isshin was able to have children.

judging by his talk with Urahara I'd say he was originally a soul reaper. It seemed to be implied he uses a gigai. As for having children, this is Urahara we are talking about, he has made an inflatable gigai, one that completely suppresses spiritual power (one Rukia was in), and one that allows user to still use all their powers (the one he is in). That last one is more inferred. While its possible he is just always in spirit form, I dont recall him ever talking to anyone that cant see soul reapers, this seems unlikely as it would be hard to run his shop otherwise. Remember he does have a legit store as a front for his black market merchandise and the inflatable gigai was him in his usual garb.

you know what I wish, someone would have a realistic reaction to the mind blowing amount of pain of losing an arm. He doesn't even have the excuse of having a spiritual body. Yet shows no signs of discomfort

Plus doing that would mean Ichigo actually kills him that chapter.

It just annoys me especially in shonen series how rare people feel actual pain. An amputation combines the pain of a deep cut with that of a broken bone, not to mention massive drop in blood pressure. Being in intense pain is the best case, worst is he dies from the shock

Normally suspension of disbelief I just ignore these things, but not when in the same arc they go out of their way to point out they are fighting with normal human flesh and blood bodies. Ichigo takes a nasty fall and they take him out of the fight, this guy treats losing an arm so non-nonchalantly that he calmly quips about it.

He definitely was in a lot of pain there for awhile when it happened. I think it just happened so fast he wasn't really able to process it. I mean Ichigo was moving so fast that apparently it makes flash step look slow. Judging from the fact that Tsukushima was able to beat Ishida in speed and so can move at flash step like speeds. At the very least all Fullbring users should be somewhat accustomed to flash step like speeds since it is clear they can do something like flash step. (Chad being the first example we saw of one of them using something like flash step.) Therefore his complete and utter shock at Ichigo's speed and inability to make any sort of defense implies that Ichigo's speed is on an entirely different level. Long story short Ichigo has apparently finally realized that super amazing speed boost his Bankai was supposed to give him.

I'd almost lay money that during that dust cloud that Chad created Orihime probably reattached his arm already which would be why he seems all right in the last panel. You can see her fairy things flying around already and we know she gotten much better at using them. Plus she only has to reattach the arm not rebuild it so that should make it much faster.

Shouldn't Ichigo have, like, face-planted when he swung his sword into that barrier? I mean, he can't fly anymore and he's subject to physics, right? It looks like he just kinda stopped in mid-air and hung there. That's not how momentum or gravity work.

Maybe he's strong enough to support and balance his whole body with just one arm? No, no that still doesn't work.

And, again, why is Tsukishima doing this? Is that gonna be explained, or is all just a big joke about author self-insert characters in fan fiction overshadowing the hero of the original work?
