Yeah, Meanie McTommy Lee Jones wouldn't let him fight, then complained that he wasn't fighting. I'd say that was confusing but then again it sounds like what happens all the time. This is what makes him decide he has to do something combat-wise even if the Colonel won't let him, especially when Bucky is in trouble

Saw Captain America today.

It was okay. The whole thing felt really rushed to me, like each scene could have stood to be 15-25 seconds to a minute or two longer.

I am really excited for Avengers, though.

Of course you are, Joss Whedon is directing it. If you weren't, well, I guess I'd have to disown you.

Captain America was...good.

Cap's always been my favorite superhero and admittingly I don't think there was any way the movie was going to be as great as I hoped it would be, as I was going to feel somewhat dissatisfied with any portrayal that was anything less than The Best Superhero Movie Ever, and this movie definitely was not The Best Superhero Movie Ever.

Still the girl who co-starred with Cap was smoking hot, most of the supporting actors held their own, and several of the comedic moments in the movie really worked well. I'm not sure what could have been improved, except to say that there were definitely a few scenes that fell flat for me, most notably among the villains.

And the ending felt... rushed? Poorly executed? I think there needed to be one more scene to properly close out the love story, like have Cap visit an elderly version of the girl after he's brought to the future. The cliffhanger ending really only exclusively works in the context of knowing that The Avengers is coming out next year, which is fine in context, but loses luster when asked to weigh the movie on its own merits.

Also to Smarty: Back when I was a Republican, Cap was actually my favorite superhero despite the fact that some of his liberal political moments really drove me up a wall. Now as a liberal, I actually appreciate Cap even more. Seriously if you wanted to accuse a superhero of being a conservative bigot you should look harder at Iron Man, who better fits the description.

What did you think about Cap's characterization?

I went into that movie saying that I would be satisfied so long as they nailed Steve's character. To me, it felt almost exactly like the Cap I read in the comics and I loved it.

I loved that, as Movie Bob put it, the filmmakers were willing to portray Cap's inherent goodness as an altogether decent and uncomplicated human being without irony.
And I think it'll set up for a great contrast between him, Thor and Iron Man in The Avengers, as all three have quite different personalities and sensibilities.

I kind of feel bad for The Hulk, though, I definitely feel he's going to be something of the "odd man out" in the group, particularly as there's plenty of incentive for the writers to really concentrate on the other three who have continuity in the actors department.

The Hulk was always the odd man out. When he was Bruce, Stark would belittle what achievments he did have and often berate him for his inability to properly control the Hulk, despite how much mental fortitude it took for him to get to where he was. And when he was the Hulk he was always the first to assume when the big green guy was out of control, more often than not when he wasn't.

This abusive dynamic between the two of them still cooks to this very day.

Makes sense, Tony Stark is such a pillar of Self Control and Willpower.

I finally got to see it today.

I'm not really a comicbook fan, but I know random tidbits about Cap and I liked how they were portrayed and also the WW2 crazyness - relentless propaganda, crazy inventions, attempts at occultism. My brother said it wasn't good but wasn't bad and my father said it was bad. So yeah.

And is it me or all Starks are the same guy in a different time period? 'Cause it sure as hell seems like that.
