You guys, Walking Dead is back, YOU GUYS
YOU GUYS.
This show continues to be fantastic. Re: The latest episode: Holy shit, Shane. Like...Holy shit man, oh my god. ALSO this seems to be diverging from the comic book quite a bit as time goes on. Which is good! The comic book got kind of depressing. Though it was still quite entertaining. One thing in particular that amuses me with the dichotomy is that in the comic book, Andrea and her sister were quite a bit younger (I think they were 18?), and Dale lived in his RV with both of them for some time and the implication that he was fucking both of them was just ALL over the place, and it was hilarious. Andrea in the show kind of annoys the hell out of me but she's not as bad as Sophia. I think Daryl is my favorite because he's just awesome. And I kind of love the idea of the redneck apocalypse survivor, much as I dislike rednecks irl. And really, Daryl is a pretty good guy when it comes down to it. Also he is Norman Reedus and Norman Reedus is the tops. |

Well the idea of the redneck Nazi (judging by the SS symbol on his motorcycle) biker apparently being less racist than the token black guy was a stroke of genius, I must admit. Like T-Dog's whole "I'm the only black guy so that is why they left me behind with you" thing was pretty hilarious, especially when Dale pointed out the gigantic holes in his logic (without even mentioning that Glenn is the only Asian character, another minority). Plus Daryl is apparently less of an asshole than Merle all in all, anyway (I kind of don't think Merle is ever going to show back up again, kind of like how I don't think that guy from Jericho from the pilot is ever going to show back up again, either, mainly due to them not being able to get the actors back).
However, I've not really been liking the pace of this season so much so far. A lot of the dialogue has been pretty weak (well, mainly Grimes' monologues, about God or in talking on the radio to guy from Jericho from the pilot, in particular, have been rather insipid, bordering on stupid), and some of it has been bordering on pretty obvious filler, in my opinion. Like last week's episode was pretty much completely filler, since the two episodes minus tons of meandering convos could have been combined. But yeah, the ending to this week's episode was pretty great so maybe I will end up liking it more as the season progresses.

I sound negative, but I do like the show quite a bit.
Yeah, maybe they are gonna let the season get stronger as it goes along this time. Like, you know, the opposite of what they did last year.
I do agree that some of it has seemed filler-ish at times. I'd say maybe the writing staff was having to adjust from 6 episodes to a full season, but then, Darabont fired S1's writing staff...

They they fired Darabont, if I remember correctly.
I'd say this season might be a crapshoot, with mixtures of both genius and pointlessness. Kind of like last season!
