Well, Bells, the thing is that when you make something illegal, you're involving the law. As your title alludes to, fuck the police.
Like, I could bounce off Azisien's joke that I can't hurt his feelings by hurting his feelings. I'm pretty sure I could. But I won't, because that would be an awful, pointless thing for me to do. However, if it were illegal for me to hurt Azisien's feelings on the internet, then posting this analogy could be illegal going by the wonderful precedent set so far for cybercrime. This is why censorship is bad: not because we should be able to say whatever we want, but because censorship laws can potentially hit things beyond those bad things we shouldn't be saying. But, mostly "fuck the police." You have "disorderly conduct," anything wrong with "drunk in public" is already covered there. And "disrespecting an officer?" Sit on a hot stove.

I had to check google real quick to see if "liberal eggshells" was a bannable offense
I think that Azisien's problem is less with having white privilege pointed out and more with a perceived need to walk on liberal eggshells in regards to what he makes jokes about, what shows he can say he likes, etc. Not that we actually need to protect the precious, precious shells, but, judging by the rest of his post being about CK being able to make awesome jokes about awful things, I'm pretty sure that's the issue.
I realize I'm speaking for someone else who can explain his position if he feels like it's worth explaining now. So, you know, let us know if I'm way off base here. Previous post edited to reflect this post.

If you're just using 'edgy' as a synonym for 'jokes at the expense of oppressed minorities that political correctness attempts to shield', then you should just be more honest with yourself, and say that you enjoy jokes that mock issues faced by women / ethnic minorities / homosexuals / transgendered individuals.

Now I'm really gonna talk for you, Azisien, and it's not going to be positive this time. I understand that this is annoying.
I don't think the perceived problem is the inability to make jokes that mock issues faced by women / ethnic minorities / homosexuals / transgendered individuals. The perceived problem is an inability to know whether To talk for myself now, I'm aware that this concern is unfounded. The way to avoid Liz or anyone else calling your jokes offensive to the issues faced by women / ethnic minorities / homosexuals / transgendered individuals is to not make jokes that mock issues faced by women / ethnic minorities / homosexuals / transgendered individuals. Pretty simple, really. But I understand that most people aren't in the habit of thinking about whether what they're saying is offensive and certainly aren't used to being called out on it. And I think Liz and you, Snake, should keep calling them out on it, because it needs to be done. If you keep smacking their posting hands, they'll start thinking through what they post, making better posts all around. ... I feel like I should apologize again for going "No, this is what Azisien thinks," being that I'm not Azisien and I just called his problem illusory.

So we are clear
|
just to give my own opinion, this is one of those few things I feel its all about intent. Personally I dont mind jokes about offensive material whether they are good or bad or who the target is (myself included). What does bother me are jokes made with the intent to insult or demean an individual or group.
Basically are you laughing at them, or with them.

Problem with that is it's not really up to the speaker to decide, except through skilled expression, what the listener hears.

No no, it's actually hilarious. This is probably what it feels like to be a famous dead person and have people on forums talking about you. Now I have no reason to die!
