Haven't they established that being a Quincy is something you learn, as in it is a set of skills passed down, not a biological thing.

Of course, I was kind of suprised that being a Shinigami was genetic.

maybe, but that would still mean the spiritual power had to come from somewhere. Something else they established is most people lack even the potential to develop spiritual abilities and Ichigo can inherently see hollows and soul reapers.

You know whats really gonna irk me though. Now Ichigo pulled out some BS special training to get to the level he was as a soul reaper. Urahara used alot of short-cuts while training him. Even then it was only thanks to fluke hollow powers that he could fight at the level of a captain.

Though by the looks of it he's going to go from zero to overpowered with his quincy abilities in a matter of days.

On a related note, even with his soul reaper powers handicapped, he is still a vaizard with fullbring.has powers Kubo has forgotten about

Actually, since his Hallow side merged with Zangetsu (techincally they were always one being but what ever). When his sword broke, he lost both his Hallow and Shinigami powers.

So yeah he was quite literally knocked all the way back to level 1... again...

Oh my god, I so called that like a year ago. Kenpachi totally just took a zanpakuto from a corpse and made it his own. I mean I said mostly as a joke about how badass he was but apparently Kubo agreed.

And also now it's kind of clear why Isshin took the name Kurosaki.

Please explain, as I kinda skipped everything between Ichigo getting Visored training and Ichigo getting Fullbring training, and thus missed a lot of pseudo-Chekhov's guns.

Basically its just that now we know that Isshin was not only captain of squad 10 but also the head of a branch of the Shiba family. So his name would have been like a gigantic flashing neon sign. Also, the Shiba family seems to have fallen into disrepute and that is probably connected in some way. He also seemed really disinterested in being the head of a household.

I just now realized this makes Ganju and Ichigo like cousins or something. It also makes me wonder how much K?kaku knows about all this. Although if she was aware of his origins it would kind of explain that throw away scene at the end of one of the chapters around the time the zero squad showed up.

Edit: Dude! I just realized that this now explains Ichigo's resemblance to Kaien Shiba which was one of the main reasons Rukia even gave him the time of day. Goddamn Kubo just tied up a lot of loose plot threads with one revelation.

This was a really enjoyable chapter, not just for the subtle and complex resolution Sith explained but it was just an entertaining read.

You know thinking back to the first few chapters. It must have been so hard on Isshin to not be able to protect his family from a hollow that would normally be nothing to him. Speaking of, "hollowfication in hollows" is just stupid. They really should have translated that differently or something.

Oh and this means we will get more of a look into how Urahara ties into all this. Remember he commented that he made that gigai

afterthought: it just hit me, if his mom was a quincy, remember Ichigo kinda blacked out when they were attacked. Good chance she actually fought off grand fisher. I did always wonder why he would kill her but not Ichigo
