I also don't seem to be able to re-map my gamepad, but that might just be because Steam hates the PS2 controller.

Never had that happen in RH, though I play windowed mode and I've had it happen in other games when I play full screen (but not windowed).

. . . I don't play anything full screen, anymore, though. I enjoy multi-tasking too much.

It uh, actually works really weird, probably so you can map to pressing multiple buttons at the same time easily, but you have to hold down the button for a second or two.

I actually recommend sticking to a keyboard, anyway, though. There's just too many buttons you need easy access to after like level 15 for a PS2/PS3/360 controller to really work well.

Default It took me a while to realize she /wasn't/ saying, "Soda pop!"
It happens regardless of windowed or fullscreen. As for the controller, there are only 6 action skills at a time, and the buffs are by default on the d-pad. So the only "difficult" part is remembering which of my PS2 controller's buttons they consider is "B" so I know how to get to the latter three (1-3 are on shoulder buttons, 4-6 are the same buttons plus "B", which is the X button; while "X" is the triangle).

Also I friend-requested one of your characters. Sinasis, I believe.

I don't get the skill tree yet. But I am level 8 or so and looking forward to dual-swords.


Also, fuck you for "Soda Pop." It's all I hear. And these outfits... If you aren't playing a lolicon you apparently don't get clothing as a female character.


Gettin' SSS and SS ranks, so I guess I am mashing kind of right. I assume this is all chump-levels of easy until later dungeons though.

Yeah, it works. I just found it really awkward doing the button + other button, in comparison to just pressing the buttons. Particularly when trying to combo and dodge roll around.

Also, Angela gets the best clothing options. From what I've looked at.

Haven't looked at the gothic lolita character, 'cause it's not my thing.

Nat's not bad for clothing either, but everything on the shop is pretty meh. Meilin's okay too, but she wears nothing but cheongsams, so customization isn't really there.

Oh, on ranking:

Ranking is determined by a few factors. Firstly, chain hits/combos add to your 'style' score. Then, on top of that, you get a bonus, a rather large one, for one shotting enemies, or killing a group of enemies in a short enough time frame (chain killing). You also get a more modest bonus for air juggles.

Every stage then has a 'style threshold' you have to hit for every rank.

Then it takes the number of times you're hit, and adjusts the threshold so that if you take more hits you need more style. At 16 hits your rank is automatically adjusted down one level, making triple S no longer possible.

The primary reason to bother ranking is because you get a bonus 'rare card' at the end if you SSS on normal, SSS or SS on hard, and SSS, SS, or S on Very Hard. Gold card for SSS on Very Hard, Silver for SS on Very Hard/SSS on Hard, etc.

Gold cards = gold gear, and silver cards = blue gear if you pick the right card at the end. Basically SSS ranking on VH gives you a chance for some sweet gear at the end of the stage.

Well that and pride and honor.

Found a Revolver Natasha vid where she's not horribly overleveled/geared for the area. Gives a better idea of her actual playstyle.

OK that gunplay is a bit more sexy. I should give it a try, as well as Angela for scythe/glaive action. Though "magic sword" could be neat!

Thanks for the clarification on the ranking system. I had some assumptions, some of which were correct, but it's useful to know how to approach a fight with ranks in mind (especially since it appears some quests will require a certain rank clear).


Also I've noticed that after leaving the small town in the forest with the hooded little girl giving me orders I now seem to be seeing Frantz and Angela in my story dialogue instead of Roselle.


Do you have any suggestions for how to skill build dual-swords? Like which tree is best at first, etc.?
I see this as similar to Castle Crashers or other arcade-style romps -- something I can easily drop in and play now and again, even if I don't ever devote much time to it like I do with STO or GW2.

Also my Roselle appears to be bugged. She canot do anything other than Canals B2 in the sewer dungeons, with the reason "Must be Lv.2 or higher. Quest None QuestTitle - 101001 has been completed or is still in progress" being shown.

So I guess she can't save the guy in the Lower Power plant area that I just saved on an Angela character in order to go meet Nadia... whom I have already spoken to on the Rosella after being warped into town outside of her office.

Just dropped all I could off of her and remade. I was only level 10 anyway.

Default
The Sewers are the beginning area for the primary avatars (Frantz, Tude, Angela, and Natasha). All the alternates, (Leillwhatever, Roselle, Edgar, Meilin) get the forest, instead, and can't go past B2 in the Canals.

You just go to the castle wine cellar after the woods.

Default Last night I was considering deleting it already.
Ugh, OK, so I could have just kept going. I thought that message meant I had done something out of order, and I was comparing it to another character (granted a "primary avatar" character, so I know it was flawed).

In any case I don't think this is some amazing, groundbreaking game but I am having fun and will probably keep playing it. So thanks for the thread and recommendation! I feel it has been worth the time spent so far.

No, it's definitely not ground breaking. It's basically DFO with 3D sprites. And some amateur hour bullshit with the translations.

Thing is it's impossible to find this kind of gameplay in NA and, to a lesser extent, Europe, anymore.
