Steven Universe and the power of Webcomics.
I was running through Tumblr today and one of my friends had posted up a gif-set for Steven Universe spoilers for an upcoming episode. I saw this and sorta froze:
That's totally Hero from the RPG World webcomic of yesteryear. So I hop on over there and see that Ian is now the animator/cartoonist/supervising director for Steven Universe, which would totally explain this occurrence. That's awesome. |

back when webcomics and I were on good terms
It actually is. I am glad he's doing something art-related still. I remember bumping into him at Otacon one year -- he was way shorter than I expected, and he was wearing a sign that read something like, "Yes, I am that Ian who draws RPGWorld". I hadn't thought about that comic in a while. ha

Good to hear he landed a nice job in animation. Hopefully CN won't treat him poorly and will let Steven Universe Run it's course. I wonder if we'll see more stuff from his comic in future eps.

I remember linking / reviewing RPGWorld from NP back when I was doing webcomic spotlights. It was well-deserved. Glad to see he's gone on to bigger and better things.

You guys know Ian voices Wallow on Bravest Warriors, right?
Also he made the amazing Animation Pals with Pen Ward. And anyone who isn't watching Steven Universe should be. (Also, check up on what those other three toys are in that GIF... it's pretty great.)

Steven Universe is one of those shows that I kinda want to watch, but only catch when I can. I've only got about one day a week to get my TV watching in and my DVR is starting to fill up from all of the hour-long shows that my fiance and I like to watch that have been starting up again recently.
I have some friends who are big Steven Universe fans though and are probably too young to even know about RPG World so I'm looking forward to out-nerd-referencing them when I hear them gush about this new episode. |

I thought that was just like, Cloud from FF7 or something.

Though, to be fair, I thought, "Cloud" before my eyes scanned down to see Tev mention Ian/RPGWorld.

For me, at least, it's not a joke!
Not being sarcastic: that's what I thought, at first, too, though the sword was wrong. Then reading Tev's stuff brought the memories back. Awesome.
