It's Moyashite Kogoeru; Japanese is phonetic, so it's pronounced how it's spelled, though the vowel [as well as some consonant] sounds are different from English, and more in line with, say, Spanish.
For all intents and purposes, you can simply pronounce it: Mo-yash-teh Ko-go-eh-roo, with equal stress on all syllables. The "e" is like a Spanish 'e.' That is, it's more like "eh." The 'i' in "shite" would be silent, so it's "yashte," not "ya-shi-te." The "o" is also not quite an English 'O,' but don't worry too much about it. I don't imagine you're going to be critiqued by native speakers. The "r" is also not an English 'r' sound. It's pronounced almost like a "d," which sounds strange, I know. This is something you'd have to hear for yourself, as it's difficult to explain. Your tongue should very briefly tap the back of your top teeth and drop immediately afterwards. |

I actually have taken quite a few years of french so I could lend an hand in that. I'm also wondering how many fake language speakers we have here. I'm about to make an attempt at learning the D'ni language from Myst, I know of a sight for this. Also, I'd like to pick up latin but I don't know where to start so I could use a little adivice and maybe a link or two. Oh, and yeah that Japanese 'r' is damn strange I had to learn the phonetics for my martial arts style.
Now that I've rambled and asked a few unintended questions I'm wondering if anyone knows a good place to pick up a good language translator program or two. Something I can use when not online and perhasp a place to go find names in languages like Japanese. (I've done searches but I always turn up crap.) |

ScarletIce, don't double post, okay? If you have to add something, there's an edit button in the lower right corner of your posts. Thanks. And on the plus side of that post, the avatar is looking really cool.

I've taken Japanese for 1.5 years and still do bad with the r's
I want to learn a good site to learn japanese because my Japanese teacher goes really slow and isn't very clear on stressing and sentance structure, as for other languages... I know how to count?

Yay,first post!
I am a native portuguese speaker (brazilian portuguese, portugal's pronunciation is all weird and stuff). Yeah, I know, big deal, me and my third world country language. But hey, it's allways nice to have resources. And no, me and my monkeys are not for hiring. I could take a shot at spanish and italian, but I only know the naughty words of the later... |

I plan to aim at Cantonese Chinese. I've always been a doomed llama worshiper, so my dad isn't proud of me... He's Chinese, I'm half-Chinese, Quater Scottish and German...
So, if I could for once surprise him by understanding his conversations... I'd be happy. :p Righto then, I probably have offended everyone because I've broken some sort of rule, or something in the Topic Post.

Any one who speaks German, could you give me a hand. This is a bit different from most requests, but anyways....
I'm working on a play afterschool. One of my roles (I got stick with three small roles.....) involves a German military officer. I was wondering what the proper way to do a German accent is. I would also like to apologize if this is somehow offensive. Thanks in advance.
