Aeris from FF7 (major spoilers herein) - Page 3

Yeah, again, if I remember correctly, it glitches at certain parts in the game/some parts don't make sense/some parts are changed. Ruins the storyline in my opinion, anyway. Aeris died for a reason. Let her remain that way.

Somewhere on here is an in depth story analysis for FFVII and it tells why Aeris died and is un-revivable. Let me give you the short version: Holy destroys threats to the planet. Shinra was a threat. Aeris figured Holy would use Meteo to destroy Shinra (which it did), but feared that so doing it would fail to destroy Meteo in time. Aeris sacrificed herself so that she could lead Lifestream in an all-out-mad-charge to aid Holy in destroy Meteo at the last second. Aeris cannot be revived because her soul is needed in the afterlife for the endgame. I don't think I've seen a plottwist quite like that anywhere else.

That completely ignores the entire half of the plotline having to do with sephiroth. Highlight to read:

The planet and holy never had anything to do with meteor (which is not spelled, "meteo," by the way). They had to do with stopping it. Sephiroth got the black materia (as in opposite of white) to summon meteor and destroy the planet, concentrating all of its life force into one point, so that he could absorb it. He also held back holy so that it couldn't stop meteor before that happened.

In the end you'll note that midgar/shinra headquarters is completely grown over by plants. Not a giant crater in the ground from meteor.

And that is also a rumor. Couldn't even do it on the japanese versions.

I wish there was a way to bring Aeris back. She always was my favorite character in the game. I heard a couple of rumors, but they always turn out false.

In regards to DaBiggman's post: Holy dang!!! I'll have to try that.

I'm actually glad they decided to keep her dead. The last half of the game aimed to draw on your sadness for losing her to make you want to take out Sephiroth even more. If they brought her back, it would cheapen the effect of anyone dying in the game. If someone was murdered and it was supposed to affect you, you would just go "meh, I can just revive him/her".

Seriously, let it go. Those screenshots are pretty interesting, but they could be, ya know, doctored. And nobody would earn a million more AP with a weak weapon. It would take entirely too long.

Sigh... I guess that's why I never finished. I enjoy games better when you don't take time out to level yourself up to be able to beat a boss.

Do you guys think that Final Fantasy VII would be as memorable if she was revived?
Holy slowed meteor down so that it did not destroy the earth, and also destroyed Midgar's reactors. Midgar laid in ruins at the end of the game (200 years later?) but in the upcoming Advent Children movie (Takes place 2 years after) people still live in Midgar.

Coming from an Aeris fan, here, I'm also glad that she wasn't revived. It's a part of the storyline of the game that she died in order to save the planet, as the last Ancient.

On a sidenote, Number, it was 500 years.

I'll say this: Of every RPG I've ever played, FFVII had the best storyline I had ever encountered. And I can honestly say that if Aeris had not died, or had been revived, this would not have been so. It was THE most emotional part of the entire game, and one of the best in gaming history.

Opinion, yes, but many MANY people agree. That's why there's a movie based on the FFVII coming out soon, and none based on earlier or later versions.
