Visual C++ Nightmare

Ok, now this really pisses me off. I try to type a program in visual c++ while following an instructional book and it gives me an error. I don't know what the hell microsoft did, but they completely screwed up VCPP so i can't even type a basic text output program anymore without getting 50 million errors and I am pissed off about it. Microsoft better get off their asses and do something about this.
