Through the stabbings and the murder
of beloved friends and foes you grab what you can because anything goes And as you travel through dungeons crusades that you've lead How can you dance with a chicken on your head?

All the world's a stage, the men and women only players
Acting out unwritten roles to rows of vacant seats Every action for a purpose, every word naught but a line Nothing done for sake of doing, all things working for a goal All the world's a game, the men and women only players Choosing movements carefully and moving toward the end Every action trying to score, every word to fool someone Each thing done for sake of winning, always focused on the prize All the world's a game, the men and women only pieces Doing all that we are told because it's all we know Every action without question, every word put in our mouths Nothing done for sake of ourselvs, every order someone's whim All the world's a puzzle, men and women only pieces Sitting in our chosen spot to make a pre-planned whole Every action done in order, every word spoken in time Everything for sake of matching, fitting into where we're placed

A Simple Thing
I can't believe I loved
or trained this heart to bleed a simple caveat what's leaking on my sleeve? I can't assume you cared no, in fact I'm sure your life was better for the pain that I endure I want to take it back the minutes, hours, days! despise, recoil, let me go! in selfishness repay this debt in potence lost the pound of flesh in spite I cringe, abstain and shiver at least I tried to fight and fuck's an easy word you did it on a whim to fuck, a simple thing when you're fucking him |

This is the first thing that has come to me in a while. I thought, seeing as how I used to be a prolific presence in this very spot, that it might be appropriate.
Triumphant he returns Sings his song Packs his bag Moves along. Or, a poetic observation if you prefer that: The distance, he found, between the point when he smiles and the point when he does not, can be measured in the length of time between her calls. This equation, he finds, is irrelevant If he just doesn't pick up the phone. I'd do one more just for laughs, but I can't think of anything funny :shifty: ...

Low, the groggy beats
a nudge and then be battered feelings ill beneath though I ought be flattered sway my aching head and hold my swollen moon for slowly, up to bed sleep cannot come too soon for rest is far between and between the sheets I sprawl this little vermin, mean continues still to crawl Hush now, little one within the womb within the time has just begun no longer just a whim.

It has been quite awhile since I've been in a poetic mood but I am feeling a little silly too so here goes...
Aristotle, Oi! No friends there, philosopher? I still like you, Greek. Gods, demons, flutter. You seem to be forgotten. That too dramatic? Out here in cow town I see one gorilla In a flannel coat.

Microphone
romance for the present
it almost feels like real... Someone hand me a microphone They’re words, or souls Left bleeding in a sun That never seems to set Push, give until it hurts Crawl when your’ legs give out And never listen To the smart ones Remember lives you’ve lived For moments at a time The clamor of the noose For your neck And curse this shallow world For giving me a face Worth victimizing And carve another notch Or three One for love One for passion And one for luck Or fuck What a novelty To be inside Of you |

I needed to practice my Latin so I translated my Aristotle Haiku into Latin. It loses the Haiku syllable structure but trying to maintain it took away some of the edge of the remark in line two. Here goes again...
Aristoteles, Oh! Non amicos ibi, philosophus? Tamen te amo, graecum.

The Thirteen Series
Written for a radio show of some sort. I don't know, they don't pay me in any case, so whatever. XD
Thirteen Days
This heart’s relentless And almost senseless From all the sense You make You found ways To turn the days From waiting To dreading A shallow note Oh what you wrote Was fuel enough For this And played in full Your façade cool To crumble At the last A thirst for love Yet placed above Were baser things Than truth A crumpled man Who held your hand Through tepid times To waste Yet all you knew Was what to do To close Our life You grabbed the bottle’s hand And found another man Or something firm enough To grasp And thirteen days Before the haze Of months alone Could end Thirteen days Left in a maze Of hate Or apathy Couldn’t you wait? Or was my fate Always waiting Thirteen days Before I saw you again Only Thirteen The number, means nothing Outside these walls Of self and circumstance Just padding, for the cell That holds the meaning back But you’re calling in today And traffic through your mind Just isn’t the same As it used to be Before the numbers turned Greasing all the wheels Yet creaking still resounds Through tunnels meant For deeper things Than what your secret holds But that number, calls from the bleak The terror sentence rolls And sense takes the scenic route Stay the hand of fate It’s only thirteen Thirteen Beads Ten from three For apathy The negative Replies But ten plus three Oh now you see The way we play This game Thirteen beads In petty greed’s Tiny, calloused hands But no one understands You One for you I’m sure you knew But one for me As well One for him The one so dim And another For your lover Who doesn’t Oh, couldn’t Truly try To love You But one for dad I think he’s mad And likely The cause One for Nan You’re not a fan Of the lady Known as mom Two for hate Who’s pretty mate You seem to have Become …you the other side the one that cried while laughing at us all and one for her a girl I’m sure who died before she lived another bead to sate the need your pieces seem to scream for you and the rest are all in jest to round the figures out but let’s spare one for doubt and one for paltry fears that keep you through the years your sweetest drug I’m sure And the last Bauble cast Is love Into the abyss That is you Thirteen things you miss And one of them Was worth it |

Spent fourteen years carving the words in my heart
When it came time to speak I didn't know where to start You never answered the question cause I never asked Ran backwards so long that I can't see the first from the last I made a promise to you, but it went unheard I never made it aloud, but I meant every word I'm hanging on now cause I don't know how to let go I need an answer to the question that you don't even know
