what inspires you?
What is it that inspires you to write or draw. Is it music, T.V, games?
For me, it is music that helps me. It makes me focus and it allows me to write. Also liquor but that lets me write anyhting. |

Music, or sometimes even complete and utter silence will help. TV is nothing but a distraction for me, so I don't watch much (the most i watch is during vacations, which I detest)
Silence helps, especially if like me you live in a busy area that is full of sound.

For me, it starts of with a basic feeling im given... normally from someone close <3 <3 ... then music helps me to bring it out and write it down. |

Music is a big factor, though it doesn't necessarily have to be playing while I write. Sometimes I don't even want it to. In general, a lot of things I read in philosophy and science papers and books inspire interesting dialogue, even though I usually write either in a far past or far future theme.
Although I can't draw for shit, when I have drawn, it's usually about something I am very, even temporarily, passionate about. Badminton, for instance. |

music is useful, but not required. I write sometimes in between classes or during my break at work. Sometimes it depends on how long I'm going to be writing for. If I'm writing for at least a couple hours I'll put some music on, if it's only a short period of time I won't bother.
I'm not exactly an inspirational writer. Mental clarity and calmness are usually what helps me the most. If it's been a bad week or towards the end of the semester when all my papers are due and finals et cetera I'm usually too mentally exhausted to be interested in writing.

Violin and classical piano. If I can get music with just those two instruments, I am in heaven. After 15 years of collecting, I have about 156 violen/piano solos/duets/instrumentals. I can write volumes with those playing.

This may sound pretentious but, every day life inspires me. Comics, movies, television, all these things can be inspirational but it usually depends on the context and what it is inspiration for (comedy, action etc.) and music definitely can be a big inspiration too.

I usually draw from what I guess you would call feelings. I have to have complete silence and I focus in to the exclusion of everthing else. A song or a scene from life may serve as a starting point, but that is all, after I get going I need quiet.

Usually fairly random events in movies, games, or music that somehow give me mental images or ideas.
For example, the scene where the two lovers at the end of Hero kill themselves, or the Tifa fight in Final Fantasy 7: AC, and stuff like that. And Beast Wars. Beast Wars inspires me too.

I tend to be inspired in my writing by other writings (I have several friends who write, and we sort of inspire eachother by "creativelt borrowing" ideas) as well as other storlines, especially the Dragonlance novels, but there are many movies and shows that have done soh. Music doent so much inspire as compliment. If im doing a battle scene, I put on some fast, lud metal, if im doing say a humorous scene in a tavern, I play some jazz.
