Sorry, I was really referring to God's viewpoint. No matter what you do, from murder to masturbation, if you admit it's bad and are sorry for it, "the slate is wiped clean" for lack of a better metaphore.

In the same way, masturbation's no more than acting out a lustful thought. You're unclean in any way at all you're supposed to go to hell. Thus, the dying on the cross thing.

Its just that some sins are more serious than others and hold the title of Mortal Sins (or something of that nature) where you must TRUELY feel sorry for them and some sort of repenance (Probably would be good, not sure if its required or not) if you want a chance to get out of going to hell. Of course this doesn't mean automatic to heaven. You'll have to make up for it in Purgatory.

Murder would fall under a Mortal Sin and you'd ABSOLUTELY need to feel sorry for it and realize it was bad and probably going to confession helps.

Masterbation is one of those sins where if you didn't TRUELY feel sorry for, you can still get to heaven through purgatory. Confession also helps.

I'm probably not the best person to explain it, but thats a rudimentary explanation about it, and I'm only using the two examples given. I'd prefer to replace Masterbation with something like saying something hateful to someone.

And B_real, no sins warrant more forgiveness than others. You lie, that means you're not perfect, that means you should go to hell. You murder someone, you're not perfect, going to hell...etc.... And there's no difference between really sorry and really really sorry. If you know it's wrong, and you ask for forgiveness, you'll get it.

That's also why the Bible is seperated into Law and Gospel. Law to show you that you're not perfect. Gospel to show you how to correct that.

That's a denomination thing. He's Catholic, B_Real is, and they have those mortal sins and whatnot.
