And the priest is a hypocrite, end of story. He did something awful, like many others ahve, because they abuse their power. At least he had the decency to turn himself in.

Hypocrisy... to such a degree... I just don't understand it.. Maybe that's why it make me so mad.. I can't understand how someone can be a hypocrite to THAT much of a degree..

And also, I was here first, Mr. I live in East St. Paul where the cops are corrupt, and the watering holes give people cancer, and hives.

That's why it's a compulsion. There's no rhyme or reason to why these people are compelled to do these things, short of having this uncastrated urge to do it. Rapists commit their crimes for control, child rapists commit their crimes to control children, and there's no way to put yourself in their shoes unless you too have this horrible conviction to do these things. I mean, it's just in them to do it. I don't think there's ever this conscious choice of, "Hey, you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to go rape some children today, that sounds like a good idea."

It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of the Priest-Child-Molesters became priests explicitly to get unbridled access to children.

Our water only gives you cancer some of the time...

On another note, yes, I agree it is incredibly hypocritical, but its also very common, and really, it is to be expected that people in positions of power like that will abuse said power for personal gain.

I think that was his point. Blaming Christianity for pedophiles is like blaming America for serial killers. In the same token, assuming all Christians are pedophiles is like assuming all Americans are serial killers.

So it was a bit of satire on Mesden's part. I think.

You're getting it backwards. Its a closer analogy to "90% of pedophiles are priests". Its not saying priests have a tendency to be pedophiles, its saying pedophiles seem to have a tendency to be priests. Its a mix-up in cause and effect.

To compare to Jack Thompson's crap, he'll claim like 90% of school shooters are gamers, but then he ignores the fact that 99% of gamers aren't school shooters. Or we can say that 90% of serial killers are American, but 99.99% of Americans aren't serial killers. You could make the claim that serial killers tend to be American, but not that Americans tend to be serial killers. So even if a big number of pedophiles are priests, there's no real correlation to make religion as the cause as MOST priests are not pedophiles. Its not hard to claim that many pedophiles become priests, but its a difficult thing to claim that many priests become pedophiles.

See what I'm saying? Its kind of difficult to explain this in a non-confusing way...
