Well, Funka, I would like to think that people would have still reacted if Tiger was white and she had suggested the only way to beat him was to lynch him. Pretty ridiculous thing to say in general. "Hah, the only way to beat you in golf is to hang you!"

Like you said, if she had said "mug" or "beat up", nobody would have cared. However, when you're a reporter, you place yourself in the eye of the public, and they can/will scrutinize every word you say. Lesson learned for the woman, I guess/hope.

Honestly though, when Tiger is on his game the only way to beat him would be to go Tonya Harding on him.

He's just really good.

The statement as taken from outside the confines of an ultra sensitive media is innocuous enough, a simple jest really. I mean I know I've "threatened" to cause physical injury to my friends because they beat me at something before, however those are empty and comedic threats. She was making a joke and used the wrong word, but it was only the wrong word because society is far too sensitive.

When I first heard the comment, I thought it was actually rather flattering.

She said the only way the competition could beat Woods was to lynch him in a back alley.

So basically she was saying that Tiger is such a god amongst mere men, the ONLY way they could ever hope to beat him would be to destroy his very physical existence on this earth.

I hope one day someone says that about ME. That i'm SO DAMN HOT that no one has a shot. They'd have to KILL me to beat me.

But I want her to say it much more nicely. lol
