I think it would be really interesting to see which of these characters with the same stats end up doing what, such as if one becomes a ruler or the other dies real quick.

Question from someone who's never played this series before: is there any romance/marriage component to the game, or are the men and women here essentially all single? Because if we're creating so many men with few women around to, uhh, make babies with 'em, won't that impact future generations of leaders? Or does the game just randomly prop up the appropriate number of Chinese women to fill the gaps?

There is stuff in the hex about marrying off daughters but that was never brought to fruition in this game, so no. That stuff is better saved for the PS2 games and such.

The only characters who get next generation kids and such are non-custom, who are all male. Most notably is Guan Yu, who has 3 kickass general sons (though none are as good as him) and Zhang Fei who gets a pretty decent general of a son. There are tons of random officers who slowly infiltrate the game, but the only women are custom and none of them have babies.

So if we don't create custom women officers, there will be no women officers in-game?

If that's the case and I'm interpreting you correctly, we really should be creating more women to, uhh, diversify this thing.

Yes, but it doesn't really mean much. The most you'll be getting is 25 female officers and 5 female rulers as opposed to the +500 non females in the game.

Here's what I'll do: I'll create my own "fourth" character, this one female. But since I encourage diversity and I discourage me or anyone else hijacking this topic by like creating the majority of the characters, I'll add this notation: you can get rid of her if enough others recommend female characters. Or, for that matter, you can get rid of Reagan or Locke if you feel you have to. I'll leave it up to you: consider this character a mere optional recommendation.

Anyway: I'll go with Samus Aran as a potential officer 'cuz I'm in a post-SSBB binge mood. 30-someodd for age. The picture icon really doesn't matter to me, so long as she's female. I'll make her unique (for a woman, certainly) by requesting high army-war-navy stats, moderate intelligence and low charm and politics, effectively (hopefully?) making her the kind of active badass bitch who storms through battlefields and eat men's hearts for lunch.

Just a thought, and again, if you don't need 4 recommendations from me and if enough others contribute, by all means, scrap one or more of my ideas. But if you could do me a favor? If the vast majority of custom recommendations continue to be male, keep Samus and ditch one of my other recommendations if you have to?
