I may have an incredibly stupid question, and if so, please tell me and I shall figure it out all by myself. But I was wondering, while pondering what my debut RP would be here, if, say, I was looking into starting a casual RP, such as a tavern my character owns in medieval England, would it be better to post a sign up thread or just let other people drop in, or drop out when they so chose? I do not wish for it to be super skripted, rather, letting a storyline evolve as the thread progresses.

The normal RP goes like this: you post a sign-up thread in the RP sign-ups and discussions forum that details what you're going for. Then you let people sign up and approve profiles. Then, when you have enough people, you make a thread in the Roleplaying forum where this thread I'm posting in right now is. You make an opening post detailing the scenario and you wait for your players from the sign-up to post.
So, yeah, make a sign-up in the appropriate forum, then make an RP thread here when you have however many people you want. I'd suggest looking at some threads here before making an RP or participating in an RP when a new one starts.

Hey. Question regarding RP ettiquette...
There's an RP (Prometheus academy or something along those lines), which appears to be dead. It's creator is inactive and no-one's posted for ages. Of course, when I posted my bio there I wasn't quite aware of that fact... Anyway, my question is, would it be acceptable for another user to take charge of the RP? I'm aware that that's usually a gross discourtesy, the plot's fairly good and I'd like to follow through onit. the OP hasn't been on for a while, when he or she returns they could take charge again, if they don't return the issue won't arise? |

your best bet is to contact Lumens directly. S/He is online fairly often, at least once a week. Send a private message to the OP.

I did ages ago, didn't get an answer. I deleted it from my sent items folder, but I clearly remember having sent something along the lines of "I have joined yonder RP, prithee, would thou be so kind to start it?"

Contact him again, saying you've noticed it's dead and would like to restart it.
