My alignment is Lawful Neutral (3.5 is what I'm playing) and I play in a game where 1 DM runs three games at once in the same world, so everything intermingles to an extent (We play on Saturday, but he has a game he runs with another group on Friday, and another game he runs on Wednesday online. It makes for a rich world.)

Apparently I have become the target for revolutionaries from the small country that hypothetically got invaded and subjugated and stuff. Apparently the people of that country don't like the job security of forced labor camps.

Anyway, so now I have my own band of intrepid PC adventurers trying to kill me! I wonder when I slipped from ambitious to evil overlord...

It is true, about 90% of the epic destinies are either immortal or very near to it. There's really not point it trying to force it to happen any sooner.

There's quite a bit of point, when it comes to killing that almost (but not quite) immortal guy over there. Being dead and being mostly dead is a significant difference in my book. Nonetheless, I find it humorous that an aside I wrote agreeing with Mirai had such a massive negative reaction from the person I was agreeing with, and so here we are. Nonetheless, with the option of literally ascending to godhood by reaching level thirty in the Player's Handbook, I really didn't see the problem with being an immortal ranger who can kill said godlings a little sooner. I enjoyed the debate, however.

Agreed. Lawful neutral went out the window some time ago. At any point that you did even good things for the sake of an evil event you were, in fact, evil, for you weren't doing good things, you were doing evil, just very well hidden ones.

And krogo, as far as justifications go, it's not just DnD - people justify all kinds of things all the time. In fact everything we do is justification. Most people don't like to hear such because justification implies that there was something wrong with the action taken, however if we haven't consciously or unconsciously justified an action to ourselves then we are purposely taking an action we consider evil. We simultaneously justify our own choices mentally even as we invalidate the other choices we didn't make. It's constant. The difference lies in that some justifications work in broad ways, and some only in specific applications because we want them to, and this latter is the kind of justification that usually goes on at the table, unfortunately. This is exactly why Chaotic Good, Chaotic Neutral, Lawful Evil, and Lawful Neutral were excised from the alignments. People justified - poorly - all the time, and because people didn't understand the real implications of the alignment system (or were too used to the abuses instead of what it really meant) they just excised it and it's now non-existant, much to the regret of the rest of us.

On a tangential but related note, because of the redefinition of the alignment, and demon and devil, I seem to be in the very small minority that doesn't mind that succubi are made into devils and that does have a problem with the new green dragons? I mean, the succubi/erinyes thing bothers the heck out of me for long-standing canon reasons, but for the actual 4E stuff it's very logical and makes really good sense. It kind of had to happen. Green dragons on the other hand... there was no need for the change, and the change doesn't really fit the ideas presented previously or presently anyway. It's just like "let's completely redefine a monster for no reason than we don't think it's unique enough! Whee! Also, let's make it less visually unique than before - our primary stated purpose thus completely undone - while adding some elements to make it look similar to a blue dragon, but stupid!" But that's just me.

Let me rephrase that, I don't care that people think I am evil.

I don't see myself as evil, I see myself as ambitious. I have single handedly reduced hunger and poverty in my country, created a working police system where there was none, reduced crime to almost zero, and my peasants enjoy a previous unknown religious freedom.

They freaking love me, but yeah I had to crack a few eggs to get to where I am, but who doesn't.

I just thought the whole thing was amusing that I have become the Friday night villain that must be conquered. Heh, they don't even know that I am a player or that I have a have a dozen unwitting spies in their organization. I get relevant reports in the email every Friday after the game and I plan accordingly.

I must say that I have, without even ever having seen this other groups' characters, have caused them to start suspecting each other and I am slowing destroying their group from the inside out.\

I'm always down for some Dnd as long as I can keep myself reminded. I always forget to go to Apeboys thing :S. I very forgetful.


Also what happened to Green Dragons in 4th ed? I haven't hit all the monsters in 4th ed because don't really play it.
