I know he likes to run away from a fight. A ship makes you free and yes, the fastest ship would make you the most free, in theory. But if you have it you have to constantly fight to keep it. Unsuccessfully, if previous history is any indication. Going after it again would suggest obsession rather than infatuation on Jack's part, and I think he'd go a long way before letting himself be ruled by obsession.

Now, I'm not saying that it means that it'll recapture the original's glory, but I've got to see that, eventually.

Apparently, it's inspired by a novel, so maybe they really are putting the series on a new course.

I was coming in here to post about how largely uninterested I was in Pirates but I'll probably see it anyway cause what the hell it's Pirates.

But then someone was like IAN MCSHANE so now I'll see Pirates because between him and Geoffrey Rush the two of them are literally going to eat the scenery, the props, and the entire cast, including each other.

Ian McShane and Geoffrey Rush are the two best actors ever of all time so this should be wonderful.

I am very surprised to hear about Pirates 4. Hopefully, they will streamline the story so it does not start tripping over all of its own twists as they did in Pirates 3. Depp, Rush, and McShaine make this movie sound promising. Tronn looks really cool, a sequel over two decades in the making.

While dropping Will is probably a good thing, the movie will still need a relatable newbie pirate character as the main protagonist, otherwise it'll just be a bunch of wacky characters getting up to wacky shenanigans.
