Nah. Freeman's mind is funny if you've played it before, but actually completing the game, facing the challenges yourself is so much more rewarding than watching someone else do it for you.
Besides, Freeman is many things, but a complete and total idiot is not among them. The whole "You are hearing Gordon's thoughts, isn't this HILARIOUS" really detracts from the whole tense, desperately surviving a disaster and feeling your morals degrade in the process of surviving atmosphere. |

I never finished the original. I like the storyline and characters in the sequel much better.
Poison headcrabs are only bad if you get swarmed by fast zombies at the same time. Your suit auto-heals you if you get poisoned anyway, if you still have suit power, regardless of what your hp was before getting poisoned. It's kinda nice. The poison-healing thing actually kept me alive through Ravenholm during my first playthrough. And Freeman's Mind is awesome. That is all.

I don't find poison headcrabs tough. I'm only saying Valve finds them hilarious. In their commentary they mention that, in playtesting, players have a tendency to panic when they encounter them, unloading all of their ammo as fast as possible regardless of other dangers.
They then go on to say this is interesting because it's the one enemy that can't technically kill you. You can tell they find this great. The original game does have a nice claustrophobic feeling because you pretty much have no allies and you're stuck underground for most of it, but I think that's the only thing it has over Half-Life 2. |

Edit: The King's Bounty games are pretty fun, picked up Armored Princess and I'm having a lot of fun marching my armies to their deaths, er I mean victory.

Dwarf Fortress will probably get to that point eventually, albeit in a more sandbox style.
I'm holding out hope for an Overlord/Dungeon Keeper hybrid at some point. |

Freeman's mind hasn't gotten around to finishing the game anyway. So this wouldn't work anyway

Ooh, just thought of something.
Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. It's... pretty much Half Life meets DnD. Fantasy setting, medieval weapons, magic, character customization, all that jazz, but you have a very linear storyline (very unlike DnD, I know, but shut up), atmospheric environments and a first-person perspective. Also uses the source engine. Not a long game, and mildly buggy, but fun, and has quite a bit of replay value (though the multiplayer that comes with it is, I think, pretty shit). If you find it for $15, I'd say it's worth it. I'm pretty sure it's available on Steam, but I'm in China at the moment, so I can't access everything. Check it out. |

You could always get Cave Story. It's free. Then there is Minecraft which you've played. I don't know if anyone said Mass Effect 1 and 2 but those are available. Half Life 1 and 2 of course.
