In my book:

PLUS:
-No Will and Elizabeth
-More Jack and Barbossa
-So far, no mention of SON OF WILL AND ELIZABETH joining the party.

MINUS:
-Penelope Cruz. ( Somehow, the "I am a ruthless pirate but also I am very pretty with perfect hair and makeup and I wear perfectly-tailored clothing despite the fact that women didn't wear pants in this time period!" thing annoys me. She doesn't seem... right. I'd prefer Anna-Maria to come back. I liked Anna Maria.)

-Return of the "military figures trying to bully Jack into finding mystical object" plotline.

-Barbossa apparently pandering to said military figures.

-"The kiddies like zombies now. Let's put zombies in our movie. By which I mean, let's do the same Undead Pirate thing we've been doing for the past three movies, but make sure to use the word 'zombie' as often as possible so we can attract the zombie-genre-fans."

I'm still gonna go see it, though, because Jack Sparrow silliness= <3

I'm pretty sure Jack actually wants the Fountain himself. He grabbed a map to it at the end of AWE. Eveyone else justhappens to want it too.

Probably plays into the way Jack tempted him with "Commodore Barbosa" back in Curse.

Blackbeard was all about image, you see.
There was also no Davy Jones or giant man-eating kraken or water-nymohs or actual flying dutchman. The entire premise of the movies is to take piratey type myths and treat them straight. Blackbeard should be the same.

But there was a Blackbeard, and the beard thing isn't really much of a myth, it's more like an annectdote about the legendary reputation Blackbeard used to have and intentionally foster.

I'm not sure what's bad about them not going out of their way several miles to make Blackbeard a bundle of over the top CGI just because it might have made sense to some sailors back then.

I actually wanted to read the book this is based on (i.e. "On Stranger Tides" by Tim Powers, whose other books sound pretty awesome too and I also want to read) more than see the movie, but it isn't available from Better World Books. I'll have to look at Amazon/Barnes & Noble.

EDIT: Except it appears to be out of print or something and costs like 20 dollars. They'll probably reprint it because of this movie, though. I just hate the idea because you know it'll be one of those paperbacks that's just like Johnny Depp's face on the front with "On Stranger Tides THE BOOK THAT INSPIRED THE HIT MOVIE PIRATES OF THE CARRIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES STARRING JOHNNY DEPP AS A CHARACTER WE ADDED INTO THE PLOT TO MAKE IT FIT OUR FILM SERIES".
