I promised myself I'd avoid this craze. Yet I've now seen a total of one whole episode and about 10-15 minutes of two or three other episodes. Yaaaaay crappy internet.
I'm not exactly addicted to this, but I do like the show from what I've seen. The detail in the use of audio is surprisingly good, which is unusual in a cartoon. Kudos to the show's creators for that. The animation style is fun. The writing's pretty good, and the show has some truly clever moments mixed in with the usual cartoon cliches. New Spike is about 500% better than what I remember of his last incarnation. And the show has a definite edge over it's nineties predecessor, as I have yet to see an episode in which the girl ponies try to decide whether they want to grow up to be a teacher or a supermodel. Good lord I can't believe I just wrote a post comparing three decades worth of a cartoon aimed at selling plastic ponies to little girls. I think I've just hit a new low. Also Applejack is now my favorite and I don't know why.

I think I know why I kinda liked it while feeling down: it's simplicity. There's little in the way of hidden messages and whatnot. It can be just simple amusement.
And as much as I hate to admit to steriotypes... I do like Dash.
