That was an excellent episode.

But it was so sad to see Pinkie Pie get all depressed like that.

I'm choosing to interpret this most recent episode as a sign from Lauren Faust that she knows exactly what I'm going through right now, and decided to display my favorite pony's mental breakdown to mirror my own.

That is truly the explanation that makes the most sense.

But nah seriously episode was awesome. So many great Pinkie Pie and Spike moments throughout, and several callbacks to previous episodes (with Rainbow Dash failing to avoid Pinkie and Pinkie's appearance reverting back to childhood when she "lost her friends.") The writers of this show are absolute champs, and it's sometimes difficult to perceive that their target audience is actually very young girls, given the amount of material they can cram in there that someone like me consistently appreciates.
