Apparently it focuses on the Apple Family? Some kind of "bring your parent to work and have them talk" day thing, and Apple Bloom's afraid that Granny Smith will embarrass her.

Perhaps we'll get to see what Granny was like in her youth? Who knows.

Yeah a lot of the episodes have been hit or miss for me. Like, they were still enjoyable, but if I had watched season 2 before season 1 then I wouldn't be hooked on ponies... probably.

Season Two has been somewhat more inconsistent, but its best episodes, for me personally at least, rank among the very best in the series.

I'd rank May the Best Pet Win higher, but otherwise I agree with this sentiment. It's just, looking back on some of the episodes we've gotten in season two, it almost feels like a different show at this point.

Also, season two is home to the only episode of the show I can actually say I hate. That's not hyperbole, I actually found one of the episodes to be so terrible in its execution, especially given how promising the synopsis was, that I can't bring myself to watch it again.
