iPad registration issues: Got mine in January, but not per the website

So, iPad is supposed to have coverage up to a year after purchase. However, the website seems to think its been a year. It was a gift purchased through Verizon & it apparently only shows up as equipment on the bill. And there's no apparent sign of the receipt.

Anyone have any clue where I might find the corresponding info?

And just while I'm here, I suppose I should mention the fault, that is making me seek service. The reset/sleep button on the iPad is acting like its being depressed, when it isn't. It constants tries to power off, but comes back on the moment you do. It takes screenshots when you just push the home button. And in general is getting more problematic in using the darn thing.

I'd really like to bring it into service before January, but so far, I'm not seeing how to do this. Any chance anyone has gotten an iPad from Verizon recently? Maybe you might know where to find record of your purchase.

Hm. I do not have the answer you seek. I may, however, have a means of helping.

The following are the executive contacts at Verizon. Put together a clean, well written and concise letter explaining the issue, explaining that you are within your 1 year warranty [purchased in January], but that you're having issues getting service rectified on a customer service level. Ask for assistance resolving your problem.

While you're at it, cc consumerist.com; Verizon actually likes getting it's stories published there, especially with happy results. Gives you a better chance of success.
