So Endless Space is free to play this weekend. I played about 15 or 20 turns of a game so far, and from my limited experience with both ES and Civ5, I think it's safe for me to say with 100% accuracy that ES is Civilization in space.

Anyway, the game seems pretty interesting, and has a stupid amount of depth (for example you can make your own race by picking and choosing your starting bonuses and negatives, starting planet type, diplomacy tendency, and other stuff that I didn't look into all that much).

I'm not going to buy it yet, going to play it some more to get a better grasp of the game and even then I'll wait until the Xmas sale unless I get super hooked. Still, if anyone wants to try some multiplayer (preferably co-op against the AI but I will go up against someone as new to the game as I am) then PM me or message me on steam.

anybody else's steam client keeps locking up after the new update that adds that new ugly button that creates a new splash screen of steam trying to be like Xbox and PS3?

Probably, at least since i updated the steam client it locks on boot a good 2-3 times before it simply starts working for no reason

My freaking overlay keeps crashing and rebooting, causing the "use shift+tab to access the steam community" message to pop up every 5 minutes, until the overlay decides to crash for good.

e- and it seems the steam forums are still down for maintenance, which is fantastic.

So Don't Starve is a pretty cool looking game. You're thrown out into the wild by some mysterious jerkburger named Maxwell, and you have to survive (and not starve). It's in beta right now, in the same way Minecraft was (buy the game at a reduced price, play it now in beta). Only it has the added bonus of giving you two copies of the game for the current discount price of $12. Anyone want to go halfsies on it?
