I just bought Terraria the other day and I couldn't connect to the server.

Thad usually announces when it's up, since it's run off his personal computer.

If Terraria donesn't need anything special, I could try setting up a server 24/7* on my laptop. Or, just try new stuff because I got NEW INTERNETS and, maybe me setting servers isn't a ridiculous thing, like it used to be.
Mostly because this laptop isn't horrible at doing stuff, and can be quite silent. Also, brb, reinstalling Win7 in my desktop because I sorta kinda broke it again. *Unless my connection/power goes away.

I think I still have a couple, too, and I am sure others have many.
Just in case folks don't already have multiple copies of DotA 2, this bot has tons and will automatically dispense a copy to anyone interest. Just follow the simple instructions. There's no reason why you shouldn't have it if you want it now.

So DOTA 2 is basically free-to-play, but still monetizing on the unaware with the initial purchase.

I totally dig their cosmetic shop idea, though.

Yeah, the fact that it is in the store for an actual price boggles the mind, to be honest. People are literally swimming in gift keys, and Valve manages to make money off game sales still. e: I did not realize they threw in some of the cosmetic items, so that's less ridiculous imo.

That's so PC of you

This actually bothers me cause... it feels almost disingenuous to me that they would just spray Dota2 around like they do and not simply make it free to play already... a lot of people end up buying the game, it even gets deals and discounts sometimes on sales...

Buying it on steam gets you two full cosmetic loadouts (a juggernaut set and a sven set), a courrier skin, and two witch doctor items. All together those items cost about $20.
I mean, it's still ridiculous, but it's not like you're paying $30 for a game that 99% of people can get for free. You're paying $30 for items that you can get in game for about $20, with the added benefit of getting a game that 99% of people can get for free. Totally different.

So, hats, huh?
Seems to be worth it for a large chunk of Valve's playerbase.

Works for me. It means all the heroes are free from second one, unlike other examples of the genre.
