Yeah this isn't a retcon. As there's room for it to fit in and it explains why ichigo hollowfied so much, as well as why it eventually stopped happening.

I'm gonna miss old man Zangetsu. He may not have been the real deal but he was still a mentor to ichigo. Also holy shit Ichigo is about to get even more op then he's ever been before.

Also KUBO!!! You bastard! Now I have to wait another week to see his sword!!!!!! >o<

Except they still need complete understanding of a Bankai's abilities in order to steal it.

And the old reasoning could still apply, that his Bankai is still growing and evolving, thus preventing them from stealing its full power.

if you believe head quincy guy, no it does not. That was the head captains guess as to why it couldn't be stolen, and that is not the reason

Well that was somewhat unexpected but kind of made sense. I wonder if the other dual zanpakuto came from a single asauchi or if they are actually two distinct asauchi.

Totally worth the wait... should be interesting to see how Ichigo's fighting style is going to change now with his zanpakuto.

Also i recalled how his hollow side made a point of mentioning multiple times in the past how HE was the one that showed Ichigo how to use the Getsuga Tenshou first... nice touch.
