Movies The Avengers : Age of Ultron

So... comic con had this nugget for us.

The sequel to avengers? Age of Ultron. What is age of ultron?

Essentially a marvel story that relies deeply on Time Travel, Ant Man making a robot that conquers the world, a ton of X-men and The Fantastic 4.

During Comic Con it was said that the move is NOT directly connected to the comic book. However, you can't just borrow a name...

Since Wolverine is a big part of this series, and the new Wolverine movie worked out pretty well... there is a big chance of him showing up on the next Avengers movie.

There is an Ant Man movie to come out soon. That would tie in as well.

the first Avengers movie tied in Immensely with the Infinity Gauntlet and Thanos. So maybe THAT will replace time Travel with just "other dimension". I don't think they would simply ditch Thanos, but i also don't think they can hold on all the flagship characters for an Avengers 3 for 3-4 years...

Luke Cage is also a part of the Age of Ultron saga, and he was rumored to tie in with the Agents of Shield series that recently premiered. That would wrap a lot of stuff together, specially if the TV series works to set up Avengers 2.

Another tie in is that Age of Ultron brings about the coming of Galactus to the Ultimate Marvel unniverse. And the Time Travel story works with ALTERNATE TIMELINES.

This could very much be the setup to prevent the Marvel Movie Verse to collapse under its own weight. By spreading towards alternate time lines that don't have to always build up.

Unless some big stuff's happened in Hollywood, there is zero chance of this. Wolverine (all the x-men) are owned by another studio.

I heard Thanos was supposed to be the Avenger's 3 villain. Sounds odd to me thst they'd set that up but wait another movie to do it. Just what I heard.

Huh, the hell? So they set up Thanos as the current big bad, and then decide to have Ultron in the next Avengers? The fuck?

I know Thanos was supposed to be appearing proper in Guardians of the Galaxy, as a bridge to bring all those characters together. I expected that setup to be for an Infinitey Gauntlet style rumble. This seems like a rather odd move. It would have made more sense to have Thanos as Avengers 2 villain, setup Ultrons creation prior in Antman, and then have him appear in Avengers 3.

This is somewhat annoying. I swear if I have to wait another 6 years to see Thanos fight Hulk and Thor I'm gona be pissed.

EDIT; Also yeah, as Aero said, absolutely no chance of Wolverine turning up, or Galactus and Fantastic Four. Studio rights and all that.

Whedon already had confirmed Thanos was Avengers 3's antagonist. You can't have quasi-omnipotent being as the antagonist on the second movie, what could possibly top it? So yea, you'll have to wait until 2017 or so.

And everything Bells said is wrong for all reasons you pointed out. Also, no way Marvel would use their currently worst rated event as the flagship of their most popular series. That'd be like using Civil War Tony in the first Iron Man.

I guess this confirms Vin Diesel will be playing the Vision, then.

He did? When, and how the hell did I miss it?

I think it could have worked with Thanos 2nd though, and then have Avengers 3 bring in someone like, I dunno, Surtur maybe, for even more quasi-omnipotence. Or make it Masters of Evil, because by then we should have a nice roster of villains from all the individual character movies to call upon.

A1, single deity + fuckton of mooks, A2, super-cosmic-deity, A3, X number of villains working together to unleash absolute hell on every protagonist/the world/the universe/each other for crazy awesome shennanigans.

It's been confirmed that he'll be showing up in some fashion in the movie, though.

Anyway, I think it makes sense. Thanos is the sort of villain that should have a lot of set-up. It also makes sense from a series-wide escalation point of view, because you can only go "this dude is a super-duper threat to the entire world/universe/multiverse!" so many times before your audience starts yawning.

I bet Avengers 4 or whatever will be the Masters of Evil movie. Once they've done the "evil dude threatens entire universe" movie, they'll scale it back a bit and have a movie about the Avengers personally being threatened.

Anyway, I'm curious as to how they're going to handle Ultron. IIRC, in Ant-Man, Pym is going to be a hero from the '60s, with Scott Lang being the present version who picks up the costume.

They could have old man Pym create him, but it seems more likely to me that someone else will do it. Probably Stark, I guess. Or he could be a Thanosbot of some sort.

I believe all this other stuff has been confirmed so this is pure speculation but, Thanos could also be the villain for two movies. Sometimes villains are just badass enough that one movie is not enough to (possibly) defeat them. That would have been cool.

I'm completely fine with Ultron being the villain because he is more interesting than Thanos.

Is Annihilation˛ a good Ultron story? I've never read anything on the character and that's the easiest one for me to buy.
